Title: Music for Tulsa Wedding
Post by: Lora on August 17, 2008, 08:22:35 PM
I'm not sure exactly what I want, but I need to book some music right away.

I will want a DJ - wedding DJ general for later in the evening. If you know a good DJ or DJ service please post.

There is an attorney in town that sometimes plays at the consortium (garlic rose courtyard area). He has worked at a few parties I have attended, but I don't know him personally. If you know him or have his details please post.

Thanks all!

I have had these guys out several times for parties and such.  Look at gnote.biz  They are local and kind of think of them as high powered karaokee.  (not you sing, but they sing to back up music)  They are very professional and keep the crowd involved.
Hope that helps.

I don't want to spend a lot but I don't know what the normal price range is.

We used Tom at Dj Dance for our wedding a few years back. I've seen him at a lot of wedding and he always does a good job.

I didn't ask her what they spent but this was a very SWANK wedding, served meal, full open bar, photobooth, 3 photographers, 3 cakes...very elegant and upscale....

Way overdone.

Marriage is like making waffles...it is best to throw the first one out.

I have sent emails to the three you have recommended asking about prices and availability.

No one knows the mysterious Attorney? He would be very good for early evening.

Wow I've never heard of three cakes at one wedding! That is flash. [:)]

As I am hardly ever awake when places are open, my best idea is to call garlic rose and see if they know who it is, I have seen who you are talking about warming up/practicing in the restaurant.

Either way good luck and congratulations.

Very good idea... call Garlic Rose, of course!

I am in Australia and get accustom to doing everything involving the USA online. I won't even have to wake up early to call them.

Thank you! [:)]

(918) 746-4900

There is there number, and sorry if you already did that, but when planning I know the simplest things slip my mind all the time... But  don't sleep much... That though is besides the point.

I called the Garlic Rose they said it's been so hot that they haven't had outdoor entertainment. They said they had been using a different singer this summer. They are hunting down the info though. They are wonderful!

I got in touch with gnote.biz and they are $300 per hour.

I can get a DJ for 5 hours plus all the lighting and sound for $500 in Sydney (where I am also getting married, I live in Sydney).
It will be about 450 pounds in England (also getting married there, the grooms entire family is there).
So it looks like Tulsa will be my most expensive wedding for music. I never would have guessed!

I guess there is not a lot of competition in Tulsa to keep prices down. The DJ companies haven't given their prices yet. One sent an email asking the venue, but not answering my questions or giving their prices.

Also why aren't Tulsa web sites up to date! Everyone you call about anything say " Oh, well, our web site is out of date, our prices and selections are completely different now" ...Hello, update it then!

Why would so many Tulsa companies do business this way? Don't they realize how unprofessional this looks?

What websites are you talking about?

To Zstyles:

I don't want to name names, as I may be working with these people.

I shouldn't have ranted (sorry) but I find it very frustrating. The caterers that we may go with, were my source of frustration on that day. We went on line looked at their packages and said ok lets use this company based on their prices.

When we emailed to book them we received a return email saying that the prices and packages they are advertising on their website are completely incorrect.

I ran into the same problem when I was trying to book venues and find apartments. It is probably true of all cities and I am only aware of it in Tulsa because I usually need to use the internet when dealing with it.

I really love Tulsa and shouldn't criticize it.

Yes, we are getting married in three countries.

My fiance is English and his family is almost entirely in the UK. My family is mostly in the USA, and we both live in Sydney most of the time and have friends here that are as close as family.

We played with the idea of having one wedding but we didn't know where it would be. So many of our friends and relatives would be really upset by not getting to be there but couldn't afford the flights and acommodations on their own. There are also grandparents, and great Aunts and Uncles that would be very uncomfortable on a long flight.

It seems crazy I know (and I tried to talk him into eloping) but having 3 turned out to be our best option.

It is going to be expensive, but we are trying to keep the costs down and it's much cheaper than international flights for 2/3 of our guests.
