My one brush with celebrity...he got very drunk on Sambuca, stole half my smokes and ran the tab.

When I first saw this I wasn't sure who he was, then saw the post about some of the shows he was in and recognized who was. Very sad.

I got the following email a little while ago:
"Just a quick note to let you know that Mikeey's brother Jeff MacKay passed away around 9:00am this morning after a brief illness in the hospital due to liver complications.
Many of us have been fortunate to have known Jeff for many years.
He was a wonderful actor and appeared on many shows including Magnum Pl, JAG and BaaBaa Blacksheep."
No other confirmation from anywhere on the net. I'm PM'ing you a family contact phone number which was in the same email.
Tales of the Gold Monkey-this is a show that I absolutely lived for back in the day; though some called it a ripoff of Raiders of the Lost Ark (something else I loved), it was its own show, with its own characters. I did love MacKay's character on this show, as well as that recurring role he played on Magnum PI.

Jeffrey was an American character actor who played in many different shows including Battlestar Galactica, Airwolf, The Greatest American Hero, the Kroft Supershow and JAG. He was best known for his roles in Black Sheep Squadron (Baa Baa Black Sheep) as Lt. Donald "Don" French, Magnum P.I. as Magnum's friend "Mac" (It was the ghost of his character that uttered the famous line, "Time has little to do with infinity and jelly donuts") and as "Corky" in the Tales of the Gold Monkey. Jeffrey had the part of "Uncle Mel" in Atomic City a show that they had shot the pilot for (www.atomiccity.net/sampler_of_atomi.html)
Jeffrey had gotten interested in acting through his cousin Robert Redford, who helped him get his Screen Actors Guild Card, and then Jeff had a part in All the President's Men.
