I know that it isn't likely that we will be able to make the fair smoke free. As much as I hate standing in line for a ride, while someone blows smoke in my face, I guess I can deal with it. But when the operator for the kiddie rides dangles a cigarette out of his mouth while he fastens the kids in to the cars--something is just wrong with that picture. I don't want to pay money for someone to blow smoke in my kids face. It's not like they don't get breaks--they are free to smoke then. Can't they go a few hours without a cigarette? I know these people don't get paid much. I just think that it really isn't that much to ask. If county wants to promote the fair as a family friendly venue, it would be such a simple step and such a great improvement. Did anyone else notice this at the fair? It was lovely.

But I cannot think of another job that allows you to smoke while you are working--let alone a job that deals with children. The Fair Board should be embarrassed that people working at the fair with children are smoking on the job.

It is the social equivalent of staring into a bucket of puke while someone is taking a piss in it. A little might splash on ya but it is still interesting to watch. So enjoy the second hand smoke, it is all part of the "experience".[}:)] |
