Looking for somewhere to camp in Tulsa or surrounding area. Somewhere somewhat secluded; not a crowded campsite. Suggestions?
All of the area lakes have campgrounds that may or may not be busy depending on the time of year. Check out the state park website to find one that suits you. As you can see Tulsa is very centrally located to most of Oklahoma's state parks.

Also a good place for a longer trip is the Ozark Highland Trail, about 3.5 hours from Tulsa in Arkansas:

How secluded do you want? Do you want toilets? How close to water?
Osage Hills St. Park, 20 mins + or - west of Bartlesville.
Never camped there, but went on a day hike, about a year ago. The campgrounds looked very nice and were sparsely populated that weekend.
Obviously, your mileage may vary later in the season.

Will be a short trip. Don't need anything other than a spot to put down a tent. We prefer camping in places where you can walk in and find a spot, rather than the typical campground.
I have found many of the campsite in the immediate area cater to the "drive up and camp" type people. Water and power provided, parking for your vehicle 5' from your tent, and your neighbor is 10' over from there. There are probably more of the places you are taking about available than I am aware of: since you see the former and would only find the latter if you looked for them. Call a State Park and ask, we have TONS of State Parks. Surely something is there to fit the bill.

It's been at least 7 years since I've gone camping, but I remember camping near Keystone Lake where you could have a "secluded" experience, but still be within a ten-fifteen minute walking distance from running water and toilets. Unfortunately, I don't even remember where or how to get there. If I think of it, I'll ask my dad.
Birch Lake near Barnsdall has 18 primitive sites which are secluded.
Easy to get to.
