Do you have a new invention, product, or service? The first step to developing your idea is to check existing intellectual property -- patents, trademarks, copyrights -- to see if what you have invented already exists.

Preliminary searching of U.S. patents, trademarks, and copyrights is something you can do for free on the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and U.S. Copyright Office Web sites.

Protecting and promoting your intellectual property.
Join a group of experienced  counselors and researchers as they discuss the next steps in protecting your intellectual property. Patent attorney Molly McKay, Research Wizard Martha Gregory and SCORE volunteer Jim Killerlain will share their experience and knowledge on how best to protect and promote your idea.
