Title: Genealogy: Marriage and divorce records
Post by: HoneySuckle on September 17, 2009, 10:21:41 PM
Anyone on the board into Genealogy?  Have I brought this topic up before?  I seem to be forgetting things these days ???

Anyway, I was wondering how one can obtain marriage and divorce records in Tulsa?  Where would one go?  I know how to find death certificates, but not too sure about the above.

Would appreciate whatever advice you can give.

I did the free trial of Ancestry.com and it turned out to be a big waste of time.
Their searches are way to general, And its as if my Family never existed. Could not locate one person in my family alive or dead.
I had a whole weekend with unlimited access and some free time.
Still no good.
The OSCN idea is a good one. I have gotten pretty good at finding things out on their site. But dont forget to check the non OSCN reports for other information in the smaller counties.
Just for fun. Look up ODOC inmate search. You just never know.

Thanks for the advice.  I too found Ancestry.com to be a big waste of time.  I found lots of information on Social Security Death Index that started me off on the right direction for some of the ancestors.  Also, if you have any dates and locations, try a volunteer service called "Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness."  They have helped me to get copies of obituaries in other states.
