Title: Restaurants in Tulsa - 2010
Post by: HoneySuckle on June 12, 2010, 10:11:13 AM
I know we have had discussions before on restaurants, but can we have an updated one?

About restaurants downtown...I have little experience.  Heard from someone that Elote is great in that they use a lot of cage free chickens, and organic ingredients.

What's the verdict on their food?

I'm a regular.  I like it alot. They have daily specials that've always been good.  The new bar is a plus and there's masked wrestling.

Elote is great. They also do catering.

It is not only fresh food that is mostly local and organic, but the staff uses all environmentally friendly methods and products.

My company is a finalist against them in an awards category for greenest business in town. I want to win of course, but If they beat me I would be honored as well. They are showing everybody you can be a green business, while not sacfricing any quality.

By the way, I always seem to get their covered burrito. They have a very unique and wonderful cheese sauce that I just love.

I've eaten at Elote 3 times now. First 2 where great...last one (after their expansion) was very average. I appreciate the use of local/organic foods...but some of the menu items are seriously lacking in the flavor department.

Great salsa though.

I've not had a bad meal at Elote'.  I do admit to being somewhat of a food snob as far as whole foods and good ingredients, I wind up going there for a SW or Mexican fix more for the idea that I'm getting something more wholesome than I'd find elsewhere.

From the other end of the spectrum, it's hard not to like the sweet potato fries at McNellie's.  Hunt club has some good offerings, though others on here don't seem to like it as well as I do.  There's mixed opinions on Dilly Deli, El Guapos, and Yokozuna.  It sounds like Fat Guys Burger Bar has been an absolute hit.

Yokozuna has improved quite a bit since Victor took over the Kitchen and they should re-open next week with the Sushi bar put back in.

Fat Guys is great.  I'm surprised Grizz hasn't started a second visit count unless he's a burger hater.

I've only been twice.

So far.
