Title: TU Stadium Lights Recalled?
Post by: patric on July 09, 2010, 09:49:40 pm
The feds recalled thousands of stadium light poles because of manufacturing defects that cause them to topple over, and KOTV reported the University of Tulsa is on the list.
TU apparently denies they are, however.

In July 2000, ten WhitCo light poles, each at a height of 70 feet, were installed at TU's soccer and track fields on South Delaware. But a spokesperson for TU says according to their construction documents, the Whitco light poles were never used.

Just my $.02, wouldn't a better response be "We are looking into this issue to see if these were installed."

I guess we have become a society of "Plausible deniability" so that we can protect ourselves from a lawsuit saying "We contracted with XYZ Company and it is their responsibilty, not ours, to follow up on any issues with the equipment we paid them to install." I understand warranty issues, and that there is a specific warranty period for installed equipment, just saying that it sounds like TU, if there is an issue, will put this on the contractor to repair or replace the light poles. (Sorry, just the cynic in me coming out)
