I noticed they tore down the old Shell station at 61st and Yale - does anyone know what's going in it's place??
I vote for an In-n-Out Burger!

Won't happen. Not anytime soon. Likely a CVS. It seems like that's what is going in when a corner Shell station gets razed.
I know it's going to be a restaurant.

I know it will be a building of some sort, and the building will be separated from the street by a parking lot.
I think we will find out soon. That shell station has been losing money for a long time.
They also tore out the Shell Station at 15th and Main St and pulled out the tanks. Interesting.

I was kinda wondering how many shell stations were left. I can only think of 41st and yale off the top of my head.
Only so long you can make money charging 10c more than the competition.

I believe 41st & Yale is Ethanol free
There's are also Shell stations at 36th & Harvard, and 31st & Sheridan

81st & Harvard and 36th & Harvard are two more. There may be one on Peoria south of I-44, can't remember at the moment.
Also, I think the C-store at the west end of the 21st Street bridge at Jackson is a Shell retailer, along with a few other independent C-stores in the metro.

31st and Memorial I think also. Don't you guys remember the retailer who got busted for price gouging during the ice storm?

There are two in Owasso as well. On one the east side of 169 on 86th and one on the west side at 76th.
I don't know how they've stayed in business because even their real gas is more expensive than others but, unfortunately, my car LOVES their 91. All other real 91 causes my check engine light to come on and my car runs like crap on ethanol laced gas.

Quiktrip has ethanol free pumps at their store where the old Camelot was. If it's convenient, you might give them a try.
101st and Sheridan Shell closed a while back.

I did not know that.
I will certainly give them a shot.
Thanks!

Arkansas Valley Petroleum, operator of Fiesta Mart, recently purchased that location. Be curious to see if they reopen it under the new brand.

They've got some work to do to bring it back to decent condition...if they want to bring it back to decent condition.

The Fiesta Marts are nothing special, but they are clean and in good shape. It should be better than what Shell did with it. Who owns the Shell stations locally, surely they aren't corporate?
Chipotle.

Chipotle.
I like Chipotle's offerings. The one thing I can't stand is their designer's absolute disregard of interior acoustics. It's just so damn noisy it's hard to enjoy a meal there, same with In The Raw.
Maybe I'm enough of an old fart they don't consider me part of their core demographic and could care less that there really are people who like to eat somewhere without getting an auditory experience similar to going to a concert.

Then definitely don't go to Freebirds World Burrito at Tulsa Hills. We walked in, walked right back out.

I think they require some form of body modification to work there too.

Seems to be a trend, even with the most upscale restaurants.
It's not like acoustic damping is such a challenge; some carpet on the wall does wonders.
Maybe the intent is to make a place sound "alive" when there are few customers, but the degree of headache I walk away with does tend to color my perceptions of a restaurant experience.

Thought Git N Go was operated by Hale Halsell....I had a good friend who worked at the office on Pine just south of the airport.

Ate there once, haven't been back. I loved the Freebirds in Norman, much cozier, it wasn't an auditory splash pad.

Yes they were. I think what I remember is applying for Git-N-Go back in the early 90's, maybe 1993, and the office that I applied at was on 73rd east of Memorial, and I think it was in a building with Arkansas Valley Properties which is associated with Arkansas Valley Petroleum.

I see that 3 of the 4 Fiesta Mart locations are old Git-N-go's.

Boulder Towers surface parking is worse than TCC,
Agreed. If only we could have some of those old homes back

Chipotle.
Is this confirmed or was this a guess? Personally, I miss the chips & salsa bar @ Atomic Burrito, but would take another Qdoba over Chipotle...
Can't recall eating at Chipotle and what it was like, but have eaten at Qdoba numerous times but finally gave up. For a while I had devised a challenge for myself, and anyone who was eating with me. When getting 2 items, like say the bowl and soft taco combo, try your dangest to make them as different as possible in the futile hope that you can make them taste differently from each other. You will find it's to no avail, each amorphous glob of spooned on stuff, even though often looking quite different (green sauce on one, red on the other, this meat on one, the other meat on the other, will still, amazingly manage to taste almost exactly the same. And everything is in little pieces from the meat to the beans, rice, sauces etc. Almost no chewing involved, one cant help but think its kind of like what dogs do when they scarf down food really fast. To get a similar "dining experience" at home, put all your "mexican" food in a blender, then put it in a large funnel, lean your head back and chug it all down.
Qdoba blows.
Chipotle's burritos are a soggy bottom'd mess
Freebirds's acoustics suck, but their burritos are the tasty
Baja Jack's Burrito Shack (96th & Riverside) is OK, but lacks the point at the ingredients aspect.
