Was he drunk? Yes.  Was he going to haul her in... and to where, his basement?

The deputy was fired. I'd expect him to find work with another department, perhaps out of state.

"The sheriff also said that Derrick “violated a book full of policies.” Lott said he will do all he can to make sure Derrick never works in law enforcement again. He also said he had received emails from across the country about the case and apologized for the incident, adding, “This is a poor reflection of us, but this is not all we do.”"

Of course the sheriff said that.  After pressure from when he said that Lott did nothing wrong..initially and that he disagreed with the Columbia city police arrest.
