a decent grocery store in Sand Springs. Currently our choices are a nasty run down Warehouse Market that I will not step foot in, a Homeland that isn't much better and finally a Wal-Mart Supercenter. The Wal-Mart is fine for some things, but their meat department sucks.
I agree! Even Sapulpa and Catoosa have a Reasors. Why do we get stuck with an overpriced Homeland and a dumpy Warehouse Market? Come on Reasors, Albertsons somebody!
Pass on Reasors but that is just because my Reasors is a remodeled price-mart and they didn't improve on anything when they took over.
I heard recently from someone in the know that Reasor's was looking at 5 sites to build a new store in the metro area. Supposedly they are going to select 2 of the following 5 possible sites to build a store in.
Sand Springs, Bixby, Sapulpa(even though they have one already), Skiatook and Collinsville were the possible sites.
Bixby I think would be a runaway favorite since there is only a very small family owned, and not well stocked from what I have heard, grocery store on the South side of the river in Bixby and that area is exploding.
I just hope Sand Springs is chosen as the second site.
I thought there was a store tat looked like reasors in the SS corridor plan.

I actually ran into Jeff Reasor and some other high muckity mucks when they opened the store on 15th & Lewis. Being the devil may care person I am I walked up, introduced myself and pleaded the case for both Bixby and Sand Springs.
Their response was that they were about to do another survey in the Bixby/Glenpool area, but that there were no plans to even look at the Sand Springs market.
I'm guessing that Bixby is doomed since a Super Target is about to be built here. Hopefully it will be better than Wal-Mart, but from what I've seen of the one on 71st they are quite a bit higher on most things and have less variety that Wal-Mart.

What is the problem? Is Jeff Reasor an idiot that has more business than he can handle?
Grocery stores rely on low-margin, high-volume sales to stay open and to profit. So they have to look at the population and what other options are within a given distance. Isn't there another store down Hwy 97 in Prattville?
Honestly, if all Sand Springs has is three stores and two of them are dumps, I can't believe Reasor's wouldn't take the risk, but I'm not in the grocery business. Personally, I think Reasor's meat is over-rated and severely over-priced.
If you are willing to drive to 21st & Yale to shop at that confusing model of a grocery store, stop off at 8th & Lewis and get good meat at Perry's. That's where I prefer to get my meat. I get my staple stuff, depending on where ever I happen to be when I have time to pick it up, everyone seems priced about the same. Case in point: in the last couple of months, I've shopped at Wal-Mart Market at 21st & Yale and 81st & Sheridan; Food Pyramid at 51st & Harvard and 81st & Yale, Reasor's at 15th & Lewis, Fadler's at 43rd & Sheridan.
I will likely start getting more of my staple stuff at Fadler's after seeing the selection and price.

Fadler's Market is a retail front-end to a local-owned foodservice company at about 43rd & Sheridan. Basically, you can buy like you were a commercial kitchen, but open to the public and with carts and stuff.

I have seen their trucks around town but assumed it was a commercial only place. I'll have to check it out.
