Title: Balloon Littering halted. Still no cure for cancer

CONCORD, NH – People will want to hold onto their balloons if the Senate agrees with a House vote yesterday to ban balloon releases.

By a vote of 215 to 111, the House approved a bill that treats balloon releases as a form of littering

I think this is a good thing. Letting helium filled balloons drift on the winds is dangerous to wildlife. To see it for yourself, visit any beach in the US and you will see balloon litter washed up on the beach, along with a lot of other trash.

Turtles and other sea life think these balloons are food and eat them and then they die. It's just another example of how our actions affect the world and everything in it. It may seem silly to some people, but there are other ways to celebrate. I recommend lots of fireworks. But remember to pick up the litter afterwards.

I just remember being a kid and putting a postcard on a balloon and setting it free. It was "message in a bottle" for the landlocked. Don't think it was worth $250 to do though.

I submit there are way more Nasty Cigg Butts laying around all over the US than deflated Ballons.

If they want to make things that create liter illegal, they ought to start with Ciggs.
