I've noticed that Chipotle is hiring on Monster.com for Tulsa area with 74133 zipcode. Does anybody know where it'll be at? Thank you.
I'm not a big fan of national chains but have been dying for them to come to Tulsa.
AWESOME!

How do they compare to Tin Star?
I've never had Tin Star, but Chipotle is the most delicious, convenient, healthy burrito chain out there. It's so unique that it's just not comparable to other places. I'm a huge fan. Everybody is, actually.
For those of you that did not know what this was like me: Chipotle (//%22http://www.chipotle.com/#%22)
Here is the job posting on their website:
Link (//%22http://www.recruitingcenter.net/clients/chipotle/publicjobs/controller.cfm?jbaction=JobProfile&Job_Id=10862&esid=az%22)
74133 means it is probably going on 71st somewhere or maybe in the new Bixby shopping center on 101st and Memorial.
Rumor has it that they might be moving into where Homeland used to be. I've never had Chipotle but I was told it's like Atomic Burito. I do not like Moe's or Qdoba.
Chipotle is like atomic burrito and qdoba except a smaller menu, healthier, and with flavor. A burrito, 3 soft tacos, 2 crunchy tacos, or a bowl is like $4.95 in steak, chicken, ground beef or carnitas.

Translation: Chipotle is like Atomic Burrito and and Qdoba except better in every respect.
Sounds like a winner coming to my neck of the woods...
I wish we could get a Freebirds. I always visit them when I'm down in Houston...better than both atomic and qdoba in my opinion.
Mmmmm Freebirds. I'm in Dallas . . . maybe I'll have some Freebirds for dinner tonight.

Pretty much.
Although I hate to support national chains (and the last thing Tulsa needs is another national chain!) I have to admit I like those Barbacoa burritos. I liked Atomic Burrito better than Chipotle, but I'll take Chipotle over Qdoba any time. Finally, green chile sauce comes to Tulsa!
I would expect them to open at multiple sites around town...they look like they're hiring several restaurant managers.

If they put one downtown, I know where I'm going for lunch..
its certainly not the worst burrito i've ever had.
however, i dont know about their rice. its 'buttery' i dont know how to explain it. i dont really care for it.
oh well, i definitely wont be making special trips on that side of the city to eat there.

Hard to beat Speedy's #19 Beef or Chicken Burrito. Stuffed with meat and covered with cheese for $2.95.
Meat Tacos at El Primo on North Sheridan are $1.25 each. Primos also serve a
rotisserie cooked 1/4 chicken for $1.85
served with three Tortillas, Lettuce, sliced onion and tomato.
Did not see the menu prices for Chipolte's.
I hope so. Chipotle has badass burritos. I always have to get one when I travel.
Chipotle was not founded by McDonalds. They were founded in Denver about 12 years ago and after growing steadily on their own for a few years, they were purchased by McDonalds to be held as an independent subsidiary. McDonalds maintained a handsoff policy with Chipotle allowing them to keep their own management and grow at their own pace. Recently McDonalds was considering selling off Chipotle, but I don't know if they did or not.
Their food is good and they have a very loyal following - I personally like them better than Freebirds, Qdoba, Baja Fresh, Moe's and the rest but to call them healthy is a stretch (see link). http://cspinet.org/new/200309301.html
Well after reading that, considering
Baja Fresh is owned by Wendy's I won't
hold my breath to see one of those close
to the neighborhood, considering three of
the Wendy's locations in Tulsa have shut down recently.
The local owned by Mexicans, Mexican food joints will be more apt to contiune
operating in Tulsa as they have very
low overhead, travel trailer on
wheels, a hand painted sign using a
garden hose for water. Hard to compete
with that using a stone and mortar
climate controled building.
I always enjoy the 50 cent drinks and the
$1.00 Tacos from those stands, just the
price alone puts a smile on my face. Plus
they are very low on calories and
saturated fat.

Are you kidding? Its great. BTW, I am Mexican and I cant cook Mexican food to save my life. lol! But I guess the same could be said as Tulsa has plenty of white people and I cant find a good place for grilled cheese either. hmmm [B)]

No, not all of us. Chipotle is not my favorite burrito by far. As to the nutritional breakdown, they have removed that from their website. I was floored when I read some of the calorie counts when it was posted.
Chioptle = McDonalds' mexican food
Baja Fresh = Wendy's mexican food
Qdoba = Jack in the Box mexican food
None of it is particularly healthy (or that great), and all of it is just re-packaged, re-marketed fast food trying to disguise itself.
Why not patronize the dozens of local mexican places that are way better?
I don't really get the excitement of having more big corporate crap invading Tulsa.
Atomic Burrito had the best quesadillas. They were pricey, like $7.50 and I'd still get 2 of them :)
Bueno is alright for cheap quesadillas, Bell's are god awful. Bueno half the time doesnt cook the quesadilla enough though.
Any other good quesadillas out there? I didn't like Qdoba very much.

There is one chain mexican food restaurant that I highly recommend, Rigoberto's at 11th and Garnett. It has other locations only in Arizona, Nevada, Utah and California.
Everything is made fresh when you order, even the chips. The nachos are excellent, unlike any other you can find around here. It is also open including both inside and the drive through, 24 hours a day.
When I want good authentic Mexican food, I go to Rio Verde at Archer and Trenton, or Mr. Tacos on N. Lewis, Costa Azul out east is very good, and you can't beat Cancun at 7th and Lewis.
However, when I want Chipotle, I go to Chipotle. It's not really Mexican food, but they're good Burritos.
Good to hear it...when I was living there I sent them an email and they said Tulsa was not on the map for expansion at that time (2 years ago) They are very good and similar to Qdoba.
Not at all like Tin Star though. Tin Star is about my favorite, although it's not what I'd call "Mexican" even though they do have Tacos.
There's a Compadres Mexican Grill being built soon a few miles from my house. Has anyone eaten at one before?

I've been to the one in BA and it was very good. They have some pretty good Fajitas and their margarita's are priced right along with everything else on the menu.
Bring on Chipotle! I've been waiting for them to come for years, much better than Qudoba

To each his own - but if this is the same as the BA Compadres, don't bother. I left angry. They put hot dogs in my meal instead of sausage. (It still cost like $8 - for hot frickin' dogs!)
That was just plain nasty. The entire plate tasted like nasty hot dog. Our family left very disappointed, especially after hearing so many here praise the joint.
But... everyone has their own taste. Try it.
I'll try Chipotle when it gets here. It is always exciting when a national chain comes to town - because maybe somebody studied our economic situation and said, "Yeah, Tulsa is a good place to have a business." Makes me smile.
I tried the Tacos San Pedro by the Edgar Gil & Family today at lunch.
I always ask lots of questions of how food is prepared and what toppings and other sides come with it on my first visit to a new restaurant for me.
Have to give the Tacos San Pedro a 4 on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being best.
I wanted a chicken burrito with cheese on top like I order at Speedy's for $2.89 plus 50cents for the cheese. This could not be done at Taco San Pddro according to the man at the counter. He suggested a Burrito Super that came with beans and rice. That is what I ordered. The Pepsi machine was not working, so I ordered water. Water came out of the pepsi machine, but it was carbonated water and not very tasty to drink. I asked if they served chips and salsa like Speedy's does, and the man said he would get me some.
Thus far they had scored a 7, it was my first time there and things happen.
Chips arrived with the salsa. Chips were thick and hard, kind of chewy. Not crisp and thin like Speedys.
Food arrived, got the Burrito, but no beans or rice? Asked the waitress about the beans and rice, she said she would check. Never got them.
Score down to a 6..
Burrito had some large pieces of chicken in it, it was okay, but not as good of flavor to me as Speedys. It was also served dry wrapped up in aluminum foil, which I did not understand as I ordered it to eat in.
What brought the score down to the 4 level was the salsa bar. The guacamole had to have been the worst tasting product I have ever had in my mouth. Sorry, but that stuff was just plain bad. Perhaps someone likes it, but it did not come close to tasting anything like guacamole I have had all over the US and in Mexico.
May try them again, but I will order something different next time.
AMEN brother!!
I used to live in San Diego in the late 80s / early 90s and went to Robertos at aleast twice a week.
I drove by the Riobertos a couple of months ago and thought "no way there is a RObertos here". I was wrong. Run by the guy who used to run the Chula Vista location.
I loves me some Chipotle, but they can't beat Robertos carne asada burrito. NOthing but steak, pico and guac. Sounds like dinner.

From what I've seen, Chipotle is big on the atmosphere. I've been to them in several states and they all have been standalone, strip mall, or urban with the same furniture and decor. Can't imagine them embracing black&white tile with palm trees and wanting to go in the food court. They also do a great deal of "to-go" orders.
If I'm right and Chipotle is the place I ate at going through Albequerque last year, I'll pass. It sucked worse than Taco Mayo.
I had it for lunch today. Yup, still delicious.
You didn't eat Chipotle in Albequerque. They're not in New Mexico yet.
http://www.chipotle.com/#flash/restaurants_locations
I checked the map. Actually I think I ate at one in Denver some time back, and don't recall it as a bad experience.
Then it's worth a try. Thanks Floyd.
No problem. Soon you will see why it spawns communities of adoring fans: http://www.chipotlelovers.com/ , etc. I can't eat it every day, but there are people who do. The calorie count can get up there, but if you build a burrito bowl correctly you get a perfect low fat, high protein, delicious dinner.

Yeah, kinda bitter about that. 169 at 71st is a bigger cutoff than the IDL to downtown.
Chipotle does not try to create the traffic flows, they go where the highest traffic flows already exist.

plus, just use Garnett to get there, thats how I come up to that area anyways....in case you have ever noticed the bad traffic isn't on the east side of 169, its on the west with everyone turning left to head north and home.
i can take 169 north and dump right off at fish daddy's or cheddars, park in between to walk and catch a movie, then take Garnett back home, or catch the light and cross to go to target, OD, starbucks, micheals, etc. then, i can catch a light turn right or left to get back on 71st to 169 or garnett...how hard is that?
