Title: Nokia 6085 cell phone camera
Post by: citizen72 on October 12, 2007, 12:24:10 PM
Just obtained a new Nokia 6085 cell phone. The pictures taken with it are just terrible and are unusable. Don't know if it is just my camera or faulty design. Anyone experiencing this? I was not expecting top notch pictures, but did expect the pictures to be usable.

I checked some reviews and found your assertion to be common. They used a very cheap, low-end camera.

VGA-resolution cameras are great as a kid's first camera, but if you actually intend on taking pictures dont even consider anything less that 1 megapixel.

If your'e sold on Nokia, their N75 model is about $100 at Cingular and sports a modest 2 megapixel camera (as does the Motorola MOTORAZR2 V9), but all the megapixels in the world wont get you a good shot if the optics are cheap.

I am liking the Moto V3xx (1.3mp), the Samsung Sync(2mp), or the Nokia 6555 (1.3).  The 6085 also suffers a from low-resolution screen which does not help.

The Tim Index takes letstalk, phonescoop, and cnet reviews for a unique snapshot of phone likability on a scale of 1-10.

Of at&t's retail locations then the list is:
1. Blackberry Curve/8300 (8.85)
2. Blackberry 8800 (8.74)
3. Nokia 6555 (8.3)
4. Motorola V3XX (8.19)
5. Blackberry Pearl (8.15)
6. Motorola V365 (8.13)
7. Nokia 6085 (8.03)
8. Nokia 2610 (8.03)
9. Samsung Sync (7.73)

7.73 is the average, with N75 coming in at 7.23.

Thanks, I was thinking that was the case.
