This is great PR from their hired comic (not)

I am no big fan of Cowboy Sharkies, but this guy is a whiny baby.
Tulsa isn't a town that appreciates comedy yet. I'm not suprised that only 20 people were there and several that "flinched" when the F-bomb was used. This town is still some sort of Evangelical ground zero and the rest of us normal folk have to suffer for it. Oh well, another person turned off by this town. What's new..
Perhaps "Mr. Lucky" just sucks and he needs to find another line of work. Just a guess since he's playing places like Cowboy Sharkies.
Never been to the venue but...

The customers themselves were pretty rude too. They kept on talking among themselves and I'm not sure if anyone even knew there was a comedy show in this place.
quote:
One gang banger looking Mexican guy was talking on his cell phone most of the show and then in the middle he took his girlfriend and just left.
1) CUSTOMERS can do as they please.
2) Sounds like this guy wasn't worth paying attention to. If he was funny, I would not walk out nor ignore him. If he sucked...
His assess of Tulsa was right on - considering he was in the 71st and Memorial area. A shopping area is a shopping area from NYC to LA and the great flyover in between. Even his beloved Chicago/Milwaukee has plenty of generic shopping centers and lame clubs.
Sorry it sucked for you guy. If you actually had a sense of humor you would have set up shop outside of the referenced "Oral Roberts" and started into your routine. Filming such an encounter could have been comedic gold.
Instead, you are sitting in your hotel room complaining on the internet. That's not very funny.

I don't think this is true at all. I went to see DL Hughley a few weeks ago at the Osage casino and it was packed with probably a couple of thousand people. And there was far worse than a couple of "f-bombs" and no one in the crowd flinched.
F-bombs? That's mild. How about the sold-out Kathy Griffin show at The Brady?
I don't think Tulsa has a problem with comedy...we just know good comedy.

And Margaret Cho came to the Brady back in 2003. I'll never forget her talking about $hitting her pants on the freeway.
Remember when someone made fun of the Tulsan on Last Comic Standing and she came here and defender herself... made me chuckle.

The old addage "The smarter the are, the less you know" applies to many cases. Maybe she wasn't good enough at comedy to know she wasn't good.
Man...you guys cyber-heckle.
I have real appreciation of stand up comics. I would love to try it when I retire, but have always been afraid.
IMO, comedy is a greater escape than literature, television or movies. A great comedian has the audience totally focused on them and makes them do something wonderful for their soul...laugh. Comedy can make us think, be embarassed, or even cry. It is the medicine we all need on a regular basis for it cures us, at least for a little while, of all that is wrong with us.
We should laugh when people make fun of us if it is true. Especially if they are performing here in Tulsa.

While that may be true, THIS comedian is a dude.

RM- Tulsa doesn't need another starving comedian near as much as we need a kingpin of all things recycled. Please don't quit your day job.
That said, you are correct, laughter is the best medicine. I get enough doses of reality and drama throughout my week. Gimme a good comedy any old day when I have the time.
I'm not trying to cyber heckle, the lady did come here to defend herself and it made me chuckle. She had a good point - they could edit that show to make her look like whatever they wanted. Heck, she's a comic, she should be happy I chuckled!
more money grubbing and the casinos and toll booths can combine to change the town's name to Tollsa.

Good point, cannon_fodder. I have never met anyone who has been to Cowboy Sharkies, and I grew up in that area. He must be some noteworthy comedian if his shows are at random sports bars across the street from TGI Friday's. I'll be sure to catch his next show in the SuperTarget strip mall of a Chicago suburb.
Plus, isn't the real deal in comedy in this town called Tulsa Comedy Club? If you not even good enough to play at a real comedy club in TULSA, OK, that doesn't say much for your nationwide comedic potential...

I fail. I could not relate how this post had anything to do with the comic who hated Cowboy Sharkies and the rest of his life.
Also, I think you are forgetting that it was money grubbing for oil and land that built this town to start with. As with nearly every other town in the country - but for SLC, Amana, Oneda, and a few communes.
Cowboy Sharkies is great. I used to watch the NFL games there on Sunday. They had almost every game on their multiple TVs.
The guy whos owns it has a thriving BarBQue catering business as well. He provides all the BarBQue for the drillers games, including the picnics.
I think he has as good of small rack of ribs as I can get locally.
