I spent the day arguing with Lowes that these two colors aren't the same: (http://pavestone.com/paver/wallcolors-austin/buff.jpg) (http://pavestone.com/paver/wallcolors-houston/72_W_Buff.jpg) Title: Anything Good on TV today? Absolutely the BEST show on TV. Title: Anything Good on TV today? Post by: sgrizzle on February 04, 2008, 10:14:30 am quote: You would think so. Title: Anything Good on TV today? Post by: cannon_fodder on February 04, 2008, 11:13:18 am According to the internets buff is: rgb(240, 220, 130)
(http://www.materials-world.com/paint-colors/millennium/images/Millennium-Color-26.gif) Kind of a tan, beige, or buck skin color. Then again, Lowes also has numerous products called "Cherry Wood" that are clearly not colored like cherry wood (which is not red). Though, from store to store one would expect equal mislabeling of products. If it makes you feel any better it seems they are not called different varieties of tan (castle wall and lodge stone: http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productList&Ne=8000&category=Masonry&N=0+5000194 Title: Anything Good on TV today? Rule #1, buy enough material to finish the job and take back what you don't need. Example, see Sq's retaining wall. Rule #2, when you buy extra material you will probably never actually take it back (assuming it is a limited amount) and it will form interesting collections of projects past to be used in future endeavors. They only have a limited number of SKUs (product #s) and to get a new SKU for a new product takes a corporate act of god and involves a couple hundred meetings, so what the buyers do is substitute items under old SKUs. This gets really bad in the "live goods" area. For example, if you buy a Bing Cherry tree, the grower may have been out of Bings that week so the buyer will ask him to take 1,000 Mt. Morency cherrie trees and label them as bings, because it is easier than getting a new SKU#. You won't know the difference for a few years anyway! Depot does this too. Not a whole lot you can do about it! Title: Anything Good on TV today? Post by: sgrizzle on February 04, 2008, 01:59:04 pm quote: I suspected that is what they were doing. The color I bought was called "TAN" and the color they have now is called "TAN" at Lowes and "TERRA COTTA" other places. |
