Title: Italian restaurant near Promenade Mall?
Post by: HoneySuckle on February 18, 2008, 09:54:15 AM
I spent some time doing a search for Italian restaurants, but could not find the one you all mentioned near Promenade Mall.

Can someone give me the name please?  Trying to find out if they open on Mondays.

Was going to Shawkats but they're closed today.

I had dinner at Bella on Saturday and enjoyed the meal.  Tom, the owner is very persoable and friendly, the food arrived in a timely manner and was tasty.  The ceasar salad was especially good. A nice alternative to some of the chain italians in town along with Napoli on the westbank.

I find it best to mix. Offering alternatives is not a bad thing.

This is on our list to try.  We stopped in one afternoon to read the dinner menu.  Dinner = Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  It is a tiny room - they recommended reservations.  Bella's is BYOB, the corkage fee is $5.

And thanks for bringing this up - I'm going to add going to Bella's to my calendar right now - my memory lately is shot to pieces.

Whatever dude, eat highway food from now to the end of time if you want mediocre food for mediocre expectations.  Myself, I'll skip the Applebee's and go find something interesting.

I cook for a living so my requirements might be a little different than other people.  I have worked at chains, at independents, at resorts, at big city hotels, at private clubs.  My preference is skewed towards independents.  Where I live has nothing to do with it.  I drive to Kansas City for dinner sometimes because I know the food and the chef.  I also enjoyed my dinner at Bella.  And Scooters Hamburger Palace in Sand Springs is pretty rockn' also.  Chains, they have to impress me otherwise they are boring, food cooked on a formula, and packed with people waiting an hour or two for a table.  You are welcome to eat at them.

x4 on the chains.    Same food from store to store.   Consistenty mediocre.

Appleby's/Friday's/Mazzios in Tulsa is...  SURPRISE the same as Appleby's/Friday's/Mazzios in Great Bend, KS or Arlington Park, VA.

When you all you buy for your home are mediocre and bland Wal-Mart branded foods, then when you go out to bland and mediocre chains you aren't disappointed.

That said, I do find Carrino's to be pretty good actually, a definite cut above Olive Garden and Zio's. And while I like Napoli's, it's not outstanding at all, neither is Mary's on Cherry Street.

My favorite Italian places were Camerelli's and Pomodori's which are now both gone. Dalesandro's is good, but the staff is so damn rude I won't go there. Good Italian is hard to find here

Next time you get the craving for Italian, try Benali's.  (It means you have to drive into BA... Sorry.)

http://www.restauranteur.com/benalis/

Not quite as expensive asPomodori, but worth a try.

Thanks!  We ended up at La Roma yesterday for lunch, but Bella is on the list for Friday.

We tried Napoli's today, but I would love to find Benalis for next time.  What are their prices and menu like?  That link did not work unfortunately.

I don't know why that link wouldn't work...  It works for me both at home and work.

Staff at Dalesandro's rude???? My experiences have been a polar opposite... We have always had great service and love the food and atmosphere. The swordfish picata on Friday and Saturday is so good I wake up on Friday looking forward to dinner....

Ask to be seated in Eric's area the next time you go to Dalesandro's...
