TulsaNow, along with anyone wanting to help, is working on a project called DowntownLIVE!
DowntownLIVE! will be a comprehensive, one-of-a-kind guide to downtown Tulsa. Created by people who know and love downtown, the guide will offer an "insider's look" at all the unique and exciting things to be found here.
The DowntownLIVE! printed map will help visitors navigate downtown streets while identifying restaurants, retail, nightlife, event venues, parking, and significant architectural and historic sites. It will be available at many locations downtown, including hotels, restaurants, nightclubs, theaters, event centers, etc.
The DowntownLIVE! website will utilize the power of technology to introduce downtown to a new generation of visitors and consumers. The website will allow patrons to "Google before they go" using computers, iPhones, and other handheld devices. They will be able to view photos and maps, get directions, search based on specific criteria (live music, outdoor dining, free wi-fi, etc), read reviews, and more!

Hey, look... there I am! That's a really nice story, actually. Let's just hope we can meet those deadlines!
Hey guys before I waste any time emailing anyone, I run Tulsa Finds, that said I don't know if that will prevent me from helping out on this project, but I do live three blocks from downtown and it would be easy for me to take pictures, and go into places get information ect.
Anyway either way very exciting project.
What a great story. When I started exploring downtown I was amazed at the lack of information there was. It will be nice to have it all in one place. Kudos!
I have just started the flickr group on which we hope to collect the photos that will be used for the online map. Would definitely welcome more contributions. We hope to have the online version of the map show both an interior and exterior shot of downtowns restaurants, cafes, clubs, music and entertainment venues. An outside shot so that people can easily find and recognize where a business is, and an inside shot to give an idea of what kind of atmosphere the place has, formal, laid back, trendy, gritty, etc.
We hope to be somewhat organized about the picture taking aspect and once the pics and comments start coming in we will begin to start putting out what businesses and areas we need pics of or already have some of.

Thanks. Oh, and kudos to you all who are involved in this project. Although I am a REALLY REALLY South Tulsan suburbanite, my roots have always been the big city (St. Louis). The value of a thriving downtown cannot be overstated, and you guys certainly have picked up on that.

Question for any of you legal eagles out there...
We want to take pics of different restaurants clubs, etc. in downtown and we want to have it look "alive". Nothing more desolate looking than a photo of a street or building with no people in it. This is supposed to be "Downtown Live!" after all, not "Downtown Dead and Empty".lol
What would be the legal restrictions on taking a photo of say the front of Lolas at night with people sitting outside eating and posting that on our downtown map/guide? Or snapping a pic during the busy part of the day while people are walking by and, in and out of Topeca? Do we have to ask permission of everyone in the photo or walking by? How about inside shots?
We aren't selling the photos or the online map/guide. So is there really any difference between that and say all the other photos people put on flickr or anywhere else on the web?
