To all of those who shop on Amazon, check your bank account. They are now billing for Amazon Prome Club without your authorization. I found this out last night and called and got the charge returned to my account (within 2 to 3 business days) and my "Prime" membership canceled.

Here is a link that I found to this:

I am wondering if this is some sort of giltch in their system or something.  I know my dad uses Amazon extensively and has nothing but great things to say about them, but if they are indeed doing this with prior knowledge, something needs to be done.

Sounds like someone clicked on the "amazon prime free trial" link.

That is an article from 2005 and says nothing about charging people without authorization. I've been a paying prime member since 2005 myself.

I don't remember clicking the free trial, and if I did I probably didn't read the fine print. In any event I called and got the charges returned but yuou would think that you might get some form of email notice from them asking if you would like to contiue this service or not. I have gone back through bank statements for a year and a half and did not see this chareg anytime before, so it was suprising to me to see it considering I haven't ordered anything from them since October of last year and even that purchase would not qualify for thier Prime service since it was third party.

Anyway, it was something that i did not expect, and yes they were helpful in crediting the charges back.

Most free trials don't.. Netflix, magazines, etc, etc.

I am a frequent user of Amazon.  The "Prime Membership" option was pushed when you picked shipping terms.  You got free 2 day shipping or some such nonsense if you signed up for it.  It was free for 3 months - but if you did not cancel you then got charged.

I'm guessing you clicked through without reading the fine print.  If they actually accessed your account or charged you without permission you have a FTC complaint to file.

For those who care about that sort of thing, Amazon doesn't pony up sales tax either unless they happen to have a facility in your state; they don't in Oklahoma.

Nope. They do have a fine facility just over the border in Coffeyville. All the stuff they ship from there goes through the Tulsa UPS/FedEx stations. Whenever I'm lucky enough to order something they have in that facility, I have it the next day (or a few days later if I pick super-saver)

yes I care, that is exactly why I shop them.

Now if I could just order things based on what was in the coffeyville warehouse.  THAT would rock.  No tax and 1 day delivery.  kick donkey!
