Normally I listen to a "motivational" cd in the morning but today I turned on the radio to 1170 KFAQ and did not recognize the voice.  I thought well maybe they are sitting in for Medlock.  NOt the case I guess.  Is this a permanant person or another short term?  Why did Michael Leave again?

Delgiorno left because he had lost all of his credibility.  The new guy (Pat Campbell) was brought in because Medlock was (and still is) absolutely dreadful.

What do you mean? You did not enjoy Medlock's daily, "Well, when I was on city council..." or "As you know I was the center of attention when..." diatribes?

As for Campbell, he sounds pretty good.

The new guy is Pat Campbell out of Orlando and is permanent.  He actually started out as a regular caller to a left-leaning radio show confronting the hosts.  One day he got a call from a right leaning station and .......

Is Orlando to Tulsa really a step up in the radio business?

I happened to listen this morning when he was explaining some of the sound clips he uses, including one of Tom "The Bomb" Tancredo saying something about bombing Muslim holy sites.  Campbell said the media initially reported that statement out of context, and subsequently there were riots in some middle east country over them.  What struck me about all that was that his sound clip plays without any context at all.

I've listened to Campbell the last two mornings on the drive in and what I've heard so far I like.

Apparently Medlock pulled a doozie on the Republican creditials chair. The stunt got him a demotion. Read about on the David Arnett column.

Does Arnutt manage to mention in the story that Tulsa Today was founded in 1996 and speak of his impeccable credibility as a media hawk?

I hate to give him the click, but now I gotta see what happened.  Medlock bored the shi'ite out of me, and seemed like a three-trick pony- bash the illegals and gays, and "when I was relevant for about two years on the political scene."

I know there are some members on here who like him and I wish Chris no personal ill-will, but his self-opinion is about as over-inflated as my own. [;)]

How did Delgiorno loose credibility?

DelGiorno was a very vocal critic of Indian gaming.  He was kicked out of two casinos on the same day.  As I recall, he was kicked out for making sexist comments about a dealer at one and trying to take his chips off the table after an appropriate time to do so at another.

He claimed later he was doing research for a book.  Yeah, right.

There were rumors of many other things about him, to say the least, it did not sound like he was living what he preached.

I read the column and one of the thing's that jumped out at me was that it mentioned "Medlock has attempted to leverage politics and media and was successful first as a co-host with KFAQ's morning host Gwen Freeman until she would not submit to his demand to lead a conversation one morning so he swung a microphone which hit her."

TulsaMini wrote in a previous forum "The mic noise is about ten minutes in. Then silence. When she begins speaking, you can hear the tension in her voice. Then she says "Chris, you had a comment?" She was pi$$ed and you can tell."

So, Is that the pause that we hear when she is talking to him? Here is the link thank you can hear this happen on Thanks "Tulsa Mini" http://ourtulsaworld.podomatic.com/entry/2008-03-01T18_16_02-08_00

I can hear a pause, so is it true or just an allegation?

Since coming back to the area, I have listened here and there to some of KFAQ's offerings. Some interest me, others not so much; I am not a fan of Lurid Ingrate, or Braindead and the Sludge, though Coast to Coast AM I find very intriguing. I do think that the local programming, while not being in agreement with what's being said, is at least "hat you hear is what you get."

Anybody ever used to watch the TV show Newsradio(1995-1999)? Because that is what the descriptions of KFAQ on this thread kinda remind me of for some reason-could not tell you why that is.

That's definitely a big part of it.  KFAQ's ratings kept getting worse after the '04 election and Delgiorno rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.

There are several examples, but one that comes to mind is when he said he had more listeners than the World has subscribers; the World then turned around and slammed him with an ad mocking his modest ratings compared to their purported readership.

Another example is the lawsuit Bill Christiansen brought against him; it ended up settling pretty close to the time Delgiorno skipped town.  Part of the agreement was that KFAQ had to run apologies during their show for a week or so.

Tulsa is much better off without Delgiorno.
