Growing up my only exposure to live music was in concert hall or a spectacular house party thrown by a teenager down the street ending with a melee of scrambling kids among a swarm of  police lights and a helicopter circling overhead.

I'd like to broaden my kids exposure to music and show them the live music that Tulsa has to offer, but I'm not sure D-Fest is the place to do that.

Is there anything about D-Fest before inappropriate for kids?

I understand Elmo isn't playing but are there any acts to stay away from or to see?

It depends, how old are you kids?
Trust but verify

They're pre-teens and I'm sure they'll want to know why anyone would want to listen to any music that's not on Radio Disney, but I'd like them to know that their city has a vibrant music scene that they can aspire to be a part of or support with their patronage when they get older.

Just remember, there are people drinking and smoking, just like at any music festival. However, I saw teens and pre-teens all day and everyone one of them looked like they were having a great time. I even saw a few toddlers at the All American Rejects show.

Zappa Plays Zappa might need a little parental guidance, but if you stick to the outside shows, you should be fine.

If you get far into the crowd, it can get a little (well, very) unruly for the youngins.

It actually seemed kind of tame other than being inside the huge crowd.

I did see a couple with two toddlers in a stroller with matching, overly cute ear covers.  Don't be them![;)]
