The National Trust for Historic Preservation will hold their National Conference in Tulsa this October 21-25.  This is a HUGE deal for Tulsa...and an amazing opportunity for Tulsans.  We have the chance to benefit from the collective talents, knowledge, and expertise of the NTHP...and thousands of preservationists from across the nation, who will be attending the conference.

Tulsa is truly at a crossroads.  We have lost far too many of our historic/architectural assets, but we still have a wealth of beautiful and significant buildings that must be preserved.  I hope that as many Tulsans as possible will plan to attend this event.  If you care about Tulsa's future, you must also care about protecting the beautiful and irreplaceable historic buildings that make Tulsa unique.

There are still scholarships available for Oklahoma residents who want to attend the NTHP Conference.  I strongly encourage anyone who cares about historic preservation to apply for a scholarship.  Also, please encourage any of your friends and associates who share your passion for protecting Tulsa's architectural treasures to apply, as well.

Scholarship Applications are due June 1...but the deadline may be extened.  It only takes a few minutes to fill out the application.

I would enjoy working with this group but I can not devote a whole 5 days.  I could maybe do 2 days of the event but I have work to consider. Otherwise I would jump on this.  Seems like there will be a lot of good programs.
It's hard being a Diamond in a rhinestone world.

That's the same situation I am in. There is no way that I could attend all 5 days [:(]

The scholarship is for the whole conference.  However, for those who are interested in attending, but can't commit to the whole enchilada, you will be able to register for single days of the conference.

Tulsa has so much to gain, and so much to lose when it comes to our historic/architectureal assets.  The more people undertand the importance of preservation to our city's future, the better.  Even if you can only come for a day, be sure and do it!
