You guys should check out this website
www.backwoodsbash.com
It's only $15 per car for the full weekend concert and camping.  Its Memorial Day Weekend. My favorite local band Ghosts is playing, plus a bunch of other bands.

deinfami

Ghosts just released a new album and are receiving alot of exposure!  I'm looking forward to the bands from Austin, Norman, and Marietta like Will Porter, as well.

Jostes

Yeah, I love ghosts. Seems like a great way to kick off the summer. Is there anyone else in here going?

sgrizzle

Ghosts is(are?) playing Mayfest on May 16th for free.

Jostes

I like to drink though, and it's like $3 or $4 a beer there.  This place is bring your own cooler and then you can camp afterwards and not have to worry about driving or paying for a cab.

AngieB

It doesn't seem to me to be an either/or  proposition...if you like the band, why wouldn't you go see them at Mayfest, beer or no beer? Or, here's a thought...maybe someone who didn't know the band might just become a fan at Mayfest and go to your little shindig too. No need to bash Mayfest.

And honestly, this little back and forth with Jostes and deinfami seems just a little contrived, don'tcha think? [;)]

I wasn't knocking Mayfest, I have volunteered there the past three years.  I was just responding that it really isn't "free".  I just like to support events like this. Tulsa was lacking on events for awhile, now we got Dfest and now Reggaefest is back. It seems like every good event we get it either isn't supported or they get too greedy with it and people quit going. I like this one because it offers camping and the fact you don't have to buy vendor beer. I think defimini might be with the band, I don't hear many people talk about bands by saying "they are receiving lots of exposure.

Contrived.  Wow.  Makes a fellow really want to contribute and be excited about new bands and new opportunities for a very devoid local scene, but maybe I'm missing something.

By the way, you need to check out Dfest, Reggaefest (now known as One Love Music Fest), Mayfest, and ANY festival that gives indie artists an outlet.  I also prefer to hang out at McNellies, the Blue Dome district, and party at Lori's ParT Lounge..... but maybe that's too contrived, as well.

Good dialogue, but this doesn't seem very inviting here.

Do you pick everyone apart who visits here or just people who are interested in furthering our local interests???? Let me stop.

SUPPORT INDIE MUSIC.

Well I think that this looks neat, almost as neat as the 8th Annual Frosty Keg Float!, not quite though.

So who is going?  My friends are coming up from Dallas/Fort Worth, they said that Full Service and the new added band Banner Year are awesome.  I think a bunch of us are going out Friday afternoon to get a good campsite for the weekend.  I seen that they are offering $5 downloads of the album on CD Baby
( http://cdbaby. com/cd/backwoodsbash2008 ) and its also on Itunes.  We need to support this thing.

It's this weekend.  I am pretty stoked.  I caught Ghosts and Steve Liddell and Mayfest.  I have all my camping stuff packed, just need to grab my beer and food and head out.  Who else is going?
