from the Reasor's website  "Reasor's To Build New Grocery Store

TAHLEQUAH, OK, JUNE 20, 2008: Reasor's announces plans to build a new and larger grocery store in Jenks, Oklahoma. The new store will open in the spring of 2009 and employ over 200 people. It will be located just one block south at 101st and Elm and will replace the existing store in Jenks.

At 80,000 square feet, the new store is almost one third larger in size and will offer conveniences such as floral department, digital photo lab, drive-up pharmacy and online shopping. Also its offerings will include expanded service meat, bakery and deli departments with a larger variety in prepared meals. More checkout lanes, wider aisles, and a larger selection of organic, natural and specialty foods will make a great shopping experience for area residents.

Jeff Reasor, President and CEO, said "Reasor's wants to maintain its reputation as an innovator in providing state of the art shopping and convenience for our customers - both existing and prospective."

Reasor's was founded over 45 years ago in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. It was family owned until 2007, when Reasor's became an employee owned company. Today, Reasor's has 15 locations and employs over 3,000 people in Northeastern Oklahoma. "

Hey Inteller, your getting something new down in your region of "negative land"

It's hard being a Diamond in a rhinestone world.

My mom works for Reasors. I believe she said this new Reasor's will have a more cafe/restaurant feel to it in the bakery/deli where you can get food and eat it there too. Not sure if this style is popular elsewhere.

¿What becomes of the old store?

The open pad on the NW corner of 121st and Memorial in Bixby is a good place for a new Reasors.

My family and I would shop there instead of Wal-mart or Food Pyramid nearby. I'm sure many in the area would too.

I have called and spoken with Reasor's management 3 times about this very thing. Each time I have been told "I'm sorry, but according to our research that area has no need for additional grocers."

Personally I think that is just a cop out and they are afraid to compete with the nearby Supercenter and a possible Super Target.

I like Reasor's. So far it has been easier to shop and get through the checkout lane quickly. At Wal-Mart it has become increasingly difficult to get through a checkout lane quickly.

Brief personal experience at the World of Wally (Wal-Mart) for those who want to read on:

This took place approximately three months ago. My wife and I were shopping at the Wal-Mart near Woodland Hills Mall. We were stuck in line at a checkout lane for approximately ten minutes or more. Finally we reach the checkstand.

After the cashier scanned our items and took our money, she accidentally gave my wife $10.00 too much in change. My wife being the honest person she is, told the cashier.

The cashiers at Wal-Mart are no longer allowed to open their own cash drawers. Therefore a Customer Service Rep had to be paged to unlock the cash drawer to put the money back. Rep was paged and paged and paged. No response. Checkout lane light is flashing. No response.

Ten minutes later a rep finally comes by and opens the cash drawer. Money is returned. We attempt to leave.

We had bought a big boxed toy which could not be placed in a bag. As we approached the exit doors another rep stops us before we even get to the tall theft scanning detectors at the exit.

"Excuse," he says "but I need to see your receipt."

"My receipt?" my wife asks.

"Yes, your receipt," he asserts.

My wife and I did not recall where we had put the receipt. She looks at me and I shrug my shoulders. She glances in her purse and does not see the receipt.

My wife starts looking through the bags to find the receipt while she says, "I don't know where I put it."

"I need to see the receipt before you can leave," the dumb dude said because that set my wife off.

"We have been trying to leave the store for almost half an hour," she yells as her face turns red. "Ironic how we could not get a Manager's attention for nearly ten minutes when we needed one."

"But now as we try to push our belongings out the door you want to provide us with your undivided attention." She finds the receipt in a bag as she is yelling.

She pulls the receipt out and shoves it near the man's face, "Here is the god blessing receipt. Satisfied? This stuff belongs to us. We paid for it and we are going home."

"Thank you," the man wisely says and adds, "Have a nice evening."

Moral of the story. So far nothing like this happens at Reasor's.
