They had been playing this on some of the premium channels the last few months; I got a chance to watch the entire thing and was really stunned at how easy it was for the auto companies to do what they did in the state of California.

Was the EV1 perfect?  No.  But the auto lobby and oil lobby weren't going to let this happen.  GM should be ashamed, and I bet they wish, in hindsight, would have continued this a bit further than they did, given the prices of gasoline nowadays.
