So I have a question, what do you all think about random police road blocks in Tulsa and Broken Arrow.  From what I hear they are "out in force" lately.  I was very unhappy when I was driving home a few weeks ago to be funneled into a road block.  Does our constitution stand for anything anymore?

It's called "drunk driving" it has been well advertised they are conducting sweeps centered around Labor Day.

Deal with it!

If it saves one life it is well worth your inconvenience.  As long as your are not drunk, driving without insurance, driving with a suspended license or holding, you'll be fine.  [8D]

A cursory Google search reveals that sobriety checkpoints have the main function of providing public safety, unlike the drug checkpoints that were primarily interested in criminality.  The Supreme Court ruled that a brief stop for public safety is permissible, but a stop conducted to investigate criminality absent any probable cause is not a valid stop.

Search terms = ACLU sobriety checkpoint

May you live in interesting times.

When you get pulled over...

Stay calm. Look the officer straight in the eye. Do what ever he says.

Whatever you do, don't say the words, "Don't look in the trunk!
Power is nothing till you use it.

Why not?  It's just full of 9/11 truth litter?  Great conversation starter.  I'm sure every cop wants to get lectured about 9/11 TROOF.

FWIW, these sobriety checkpoints have been in use for at least 20 years around Tulsa.  I think everyone else has well-documented you are off your rocker on the 4th Amendment argument.

Why don't you stick to something you are good at, like Star Trek or video games?

Even in the Michigan Dept. of State Police v. Sitz case they agree that it is an intrusion.

"The Court believes that the state interest of drunk driving prevention outweighs the amount of intrusion"

Without the cause requirement to contain criminal investigations, there is little to prevent law enforcement from creating greater and greater incursions into our privacy under the banner of law enforcement and societal need. At its core, the Fourth Amendment protects individual privacy. An adverse decision will go a long way in removing that protection and will allow the proliferation of law enforcement techniques which are designed to ensnare innocent persons in the hopes of finding the guilty few.  ACLU

The last '... random police road blocks in Tulsa...' was several months ago (last October, I believe), and was probably more then a year or more prior to that.  Tulsa PD just doesn't set up that many.

"Deal with it" is what the Soviets said to the peasants.  It's what Mao said to the Chinese.  It's what Pol Pot said to the Cambodians.  It's what tyrants have said since the beginning of time.  I'm not going to "deal with it" when my liberty and freedoms are being trampled on.

And, no, I don't drink and drive.  I rarely drink at all, and when I do the last thing I want to do is hit the road.

Thank you BUGO for standing up for Freedom and the Rights of the people.  And WILBUR I went through a police trap about 1 month ago.  No I was not drinking but I was still unhappy with the military tactics they were using to funnel everyone into one lane.  We are living in a police state, it's not "about" to happen, it IS.  Thought crime is now official.  Today you can now be raided for planning a protest (Police Raid Headquarters of DNC Protestors) Tomorrow you will be arrested for planning a protest.  I mean even protests are only allowed in the "free speech zones"...
