The wife, kids and I are going to watch 3 Penny Upright tonight at Topeca Coffee.  Can anyone suggest a good, kid friendly place to eat within walking distance?

Casa Laredo or Dominos given those specs.

Laredo may be it.  We have a 8 week old and a 3 year old.

Please try and report on the empanadas at Casa Laredo. They have never been available when I've been in to eat.

Mmm Topeca coffee. I could drink the entire pot by myself.

They played at our wedding.  I went to school with Mary and her hubby.

Not going back again.  The chips were the only good thing.  Nice and hot.

The talapia my wife got was fishy and cold.  The taco that came with my meal had a stale shell that nearly cut the top of my mouth.  and everything else was very mediocre.

Mexacali next time!

We experienced the same thing...mediocre.

A group of us that went thought about asking the staff to make us what they'd make themselves instead of the "we're trying to make this food mid-West friendly" they're selling to the general public.

They've gotta be able to make better stuff.

I've never eaten at Casa Laredos and I'm starting to think they won't be around long enough for me to try.

I actually miss the last tenant of that spot that ran a mexican buffet.

I thought Casa Laredo at 41st & Peoria was very highly overrated, not to mention their multiple Health Department code citations at that location.
Was the last tennant at the new spot Tules Santa Fe?  I have fond memories of their 2-for-1 happy hour in the 1980s with free horsd'oeuvre buffet.  For 5 bucks plus tip, you could have 4 well drinks and all the tex-mex appetizers you could eat.  A cheap dinner (and cheap buzz.)
