According to today's Lorton's World article, Tulsa Taxpayers are paying $740,000 for 148 directional signs downtown.  That is about $5,000 per sign.

Isn't that rather pricey for the smallish signs?

After all, what good's a sign that says: "Welcome to Downtown Tulsa".

Does that really inform a visitor?

Doesn't it seem rather ironic that we will have 148 high priced signs downtown, but we have a new city hall WITHOUT any signage?

Here's the link.

If they are like the one I saw exitting the BA at 7th street, they are very attractive and sophisticated. They aren't small and they direct visitors to Convention Center, Arena, Municipal buildings etc. I can imagine that with design and installation costs they might run that much. Its a limited production.

How about we just use panhandlers stationed at each exit holding signs pointing to the Arena? That fit your budget?

You really dont read any of the threads on here do you lol. Its all old news. And btw, they say a more than "Welcome to Tulsa" and it also includes the Maps. And yes, these are nice signs and are quite large. With design, and installation I can easily see the price being that.

Those who think it is a luxury have only a fragment of a mind. Mans spirit grows hungry for art in the same way h

I was down there this weekend for the Oilers open house and saw one of the maps.  Not bad.  Ignore my goofy shadow; I was in a hurry.
