City employment increases to about 50%?

In the article in TW on 10/19/08, Local Section "city employs nearly 6,000 people", with payroll up 5.5% which is an increase of up to 50% of the 4,000 employs previously reported.  Still the population of Tulsa is at a standstill or decreasing.

The Charter change, disguised under the authority to amend one section at a time, was used to amend the entire charter and form "an out of control" a new type of government.   This was promoted "to save the taxpayers money."

All revenue derived for the city operations, beneficial to the citizen, are mostly collected from the working poor, retiree's, and the most regressive of sales taxes whereas those on limited incomes pay the greater percentage of their available spendable incomes on foods.  As the major stores move the suburbs and the inflation is reduced by outsourcing jobs, there will be a lull in the collection of sales taxes which must be reclaimed by fee's on the utilities used in the now generation.

The use of revenue bonds violate the spirit and intent of the statue to create new industries, for profit, when the taxes on the working poor are determined to be used as profit producing revenue.  (In most cases the sales taxes are charged on credit cards.)  Such bonds when issued on sales taxes can be construed to be an obligation of the Tulsa citizens.

We are in an economical crisis of which we are bringing down the world with us. Still the Tulsa citizens are expected to debit spend to bring us out of the crisis by extending into another generation this debit spending with the idea we can credit spend ourselves out of this failing economy.

Didn't the tax free interest on the millions of dollar donation to be collected on revenue bonds dissolve in the air when the "river tax" was voted down and this non-existing interest was not donated to the river improvements?

Is it time we wake up and smell the burning coffee pot that has boiled dry?
Today we stand in ecstasy and view that we build today'
Tomorrow we will enter into the plea to have it torn away.

Why do you hate city workers? You seem obsessed.

I think maybe the article you mention is either wrong or you are mistaken. The last number I saw for city employees was 4,128.

I suspect it is you who are mistaken. It makes sense considering most of your statements are wrong. Consider ..."In most cases the sales taxes are charged on credit cards".... I doubt most purchases from any Tulsa retailer are on credit cards. They might be made on plastic, but many of those are debit cards that work like cash.

I don't know what you meant by this one, "All revenue derived for the city operations, beneficial to the citizen, are mostly collected from the working poor, retiree's, and the most regressive of sales taxes whereas those on limited incomes pay the greater percentage of their available spendable incomes on foods".

Most sales tax doesn't come from poor and retirees and most of the sales tax doesn't come from the purchase of food. I think you are being myopic here. At your age, you probably aren't buying a lot of new clothing, electronics or appliances. But a person in their twenties does spend a larger percentage of their income on these items.

Good buddy why don't you pull up the article online by the data editor and have someone read you the second paragraph.  Then cite to him your figures as I was using his.   Don't contact any of the 39 employees that are paid (With perks) in assess of $10 per minute because at some point we need to  have their full attention.

At this point in time when the TV stations are showing lines of the people seeking relief in order to sustain the bare necessities to survive, being there are more working poor by far than there are millionaires in Tulsa, one could surmise that the burden of paying the increasing cost is being placed on the working poor..  When you see persons crying because their home is in foreclosure it is time the city be more conserve and hold the cost of operations down.  Once the city is given the checkbook they forget that only the taxpayers deposit the money they are writing the checks on.

I am not aware where your information is coming from but it seems that you have been informed the data on the credit cards is also in error.  Possibility you are not paying enough attention to the issuer of the cards such as banks who are lobbing for a bailout from the deregulation of the banking industry allowing the maxing out of the credit cards.

Us'n ole men recall the time when the teaching of history was more important than practicing for a football game thus recalling the revolutionary wars between the English, the Northern and Southern American governments, the French revolution as well as a long line of history where the poor have prevailed.   Us ole people are trying to spare you young'ns from following a well blazed trail of failures.

I know you are a man of words, especially since you always get your numbers wrong.

No city employee makes $10 per minute. That would be $1,248,000 per year.

Yes, the Tulsa World quoted "nearly 6,000 city workers on October 19th. There was a correction of the story on October 21st saying that they had incorrectly added workers for various groups like EMSA where the city pays only a portion of the salary.

Sorry to burst your thread of bashing city workers. I am sure it is just a matter of time for you to find something else to bash them about.
