US Rufnex, I was not talking about the vandalism, but that is well documented.  You are correct, it turns out Clinton staffers "only" vandalized around $15,000 worth of government property.  I think my points stands firm on that.

As per my source, I merely googled and grabbed the first source.  I admit to being lazy.

Here are NY Times articles saying essentially the same thing. They took ~$190,000 worth of items that they disclosed, ended up paying $92,000 for things they should not have taken.  Overall nearly $500,000 worth of items were taken, some returned, some paid for, and others "donated" to the Clinton library by the Clinton's.

I won't quibble about details.  But basically they took tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of stuff from the White House.   Some they may have had a right to, but then I disagree with the policy (what other public servant can amass $100,000 a year in gifts???).  Clearly much of it they did not have a right to (at least $100,000).  And still other items were not reported and we will never know.

I'm not sure how this is partisan politics - someone stole significant items from the White House.  Democrats, Republican, Wig, Torrie... I don't care.  It is a money grab at best and outright dirty and illegal at worst.  Surely you can't argue that it shows character in some manner.

If GW does the same, I'll call him out on it to.  I am openly fiscally conservative and openly socially liberal.  No hidden agenda here.  If I'm biased, I try to be open.  But the above stinks and I think GW, at least to this point, deserves credit for appearing to want a smooth transition.

And again, that remains to be seen.

Yet you choose to bring this up on..... what is today's date?

Nov. 7th, a mere three days after the election.

Why do you choose to give the Bush administration preemptive credit for a peaceful transition of power months before that transfer of power has even taken place?

Aren't we getting ahead of ourselves here?

Or is it just a lame excuse to slam the Clintons?

And trust me, I am no fan of Hillary Clinton.... however.......

For some reason, I have doubts about both.

Eh...Matthews is a floozy when it comes to man-crushes:

Of George Bush:

quote:
"There are some things you can't fake," he explained breathlessly. "Either you can throw a strike from sixty feet or you can't. Either you can rise to the occasion on the mound at Yankee Stadium with 56,000 people watching or you can't. On Tuesday night, George W. Bush hit the strike zone in the House that Ruth Built.... This is about knowing what to do at the moment you have to do it--and then doing it. It's about that 'grace under pressure' that Hemingway gave as his very definition of courage."

Hemingway?  Really?

Of John McCain:

quote:
"A lot of people," he explained coyly, naming no names, "like the cut of John McCain's jib, his independence, his maverick reputation." This led Matthews to declare the election all but over, announcing that as far as he was concerned, McCain "deserves the presidency."

his jib...heh.

It's from a liberal magazine, but the topic is pretty silly so who cares:   The Many Man-Crushes of Chris Matthews

Anyways...he's always gushing about one pol or another, it's his least endearing quality...that and his tweety-bird head.

I heard at least three conservative talk-show hosts say in the past few days that they're rooting for Obama to be a success as president because it would be good for the country overall.

I've never quite understood why the opposing party in the White House would ever not root for a president doing a good job.  That would mean the country as a whole is doing well.

Yeah, the shame on Chris Matthews for wanting his president to succeed. [xx(]

Conservatives still drinking the koolaid I guess.
