Immigration reform bill

What do you think the chances are of an immigration bill now that the Democrats are in power?  Do you think it will be a modified amnesty?

tim huntzinger

Hope so.  Doubt it. OK's 1804 did nothing but invite otherwise decent illegals to split. We need a good ol Five Year Plan and inject a few dozen million consumers into the economy. The chances are great of the Dems trying something, but even greater that said bill will be a huge load of crap.

we vs us

I don't think Dems will approach it for awhile.  There're lots of other more pressing issues at the moment, and it was never a topic that was really at the top fo Obama's list.

I doubt it will happen.  They will just bury their heads in the sand again.  And why not?  The result is basically the same.

Not my preferred method, but better than a meaningless witch hunt.  Deportation is like throwing someone out of Macy's and then not watching to make sure they even leave the revolving door before coming back in.

The anti-illegal immigration bill has had a real effect on all of our lives in Oklahoma.

I tried to hire a mariachi band and got two gringos named Murray and Archie.
Power is nothing till you use it.

It'll be bad. The democrats will open up the borders. There will be amnesty like it or not.[xx(]

Especially coming from someone who doesn't even live in Oklahoma, much less Tulsa.

Having been to Columbus many times (my sister has lived there for the last decade), I haven't yet figured out where exactly the Mexicans who took sauerkraut's job are living. There seem to be very few.

Like the complete immorality or not, there's a definite economic advantage to having a large group of illegal aliens who are willing to work hard for low wages with little to no recourse to the law when they are mistreated. Great for business. Not so good for the conscience.

I can understand why folks around here and other places with large populations of illegal immigrants get upset. There are definite detrimental effects. The oft-cited illegal without car insurance, for example. But in a place like Columbus with almost no illegal immigrants? Where is the outrage coming from, exactly? Haven't those people real problems actually affecting them to worry about?

Gang, This is a national thing. Oklahoma and Tulsa do not have a monopoly on illegal aliens. BTW a federal law will over rule Oklahoma's 1804. Here in Ohio the bad economy chased many illegal aliens away- no work. Unlike Tulsa, Columbus, Ohio has high unemployment and few jobs. Tulsa is blessed with low unemployment, a good economy, and a low cost of living...[B)]
