What a great bowl season.

Houston Nutt avenged, takes a 3-9 Ole Miss team to 9-4; beats Florida, thumps one of the best 3 teams in the Big XII.  Arkansas, meanwhile, goes nowhere fast.

Texas escapes Ohio State with 16 seconds left.  One of the so-called "high-powered" offenses of the Big XII barely makes it against a team with practically no offense.

Utah undefeated.  Alabama, SEC #2 goes down in flames.  Wasn't as close as the score indicated, and Utah won both halves.  It almost looked easy.  Utah needs a share.

Joe Paterno is still the head coach at Happy Valley.  Probably until he passes away.  It'll be a sad day.  PSU goes 11-2, hope they're better next year.

Total NCAA Championships between Florida and OU:  ZERO.  NCAA doesn't tally championships in Football because of the corruption and arbitrary nature of the poll/bowl system.  Meanwhile, Georgia Southern has six NCAA Championships in 1-AA/FCS.

and Tulsa has another 10 win season, goes to the 4th bowl game in a row, and has a top 35 recruiting class.   [}:)]

Ask me about the Bowl tomorrow.  I'm hoping for another 63-3 POUNDING, but the team has struggled down the stretch for some reason.   I reserve judgment.  [:)]

They're playing in the GMAC/Taxpayer Funded Bowl.

Unlike the:
EagleBank Bowl
R+L Carriers New Orleans
San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia
Motor City
Pacific Life Holiday
Bell Helicopter Armed Forces
Capital One
or the Rose Bowl Game Presented by Citi

And that's just counting the title sponsors of bowl games.  When banking, insurance, and the automotive sectors all get bailouts... a huge number of major events become government subsidized.

I still say the ad bang for the buck for the $500,000 GMAC paid for the title rights is the best bang for their buck in advertising.  How far does $500,000 go in a national campaign?  Unless you are trying to argue that they shouldn't be allowed to advertise if you get government money... which is a death sentence.

AND DAMN RIGHT TU IS IN A BOWL:

11 win season
Second consecutive 10+ win season
4th bowl in a row (5 in 6 years)
2nd bowl victory in a row
C-USA WEST title
#1 offense in the nation
#2 QB in the nation in pass efficiency

Top 35 recruiting class lined up
Sought after coaching staff
$60,000,000 in facility improvements

Did I mention the highest ranked academic institution in the State of Oklahoma and the smallest school in Division I-A football?  Not bad for that little school on 11th.  Not bad at all.

Congrats to TU for their win last night. Enjoyed watching the game, and love the fact that they have some very talented players. I also heard this on the radio driving to work this morning, BYU vs OU this year, and it will be broadcast on ABC.
