Anyone suffer from plantar fasciitis and other foot pain?  I'm gonna have to go to a doc, I think.  Any rec's?  Thanks.

Someone get Hoss a pacifier.

I have had some pain in the feet, but mostly I am a pain in the butt.

I have tried shoe inserts, generic arthritis formula pain medicine, and rolling my foot over a golf ball for ten minutes at night (as mentioned by a doctor).

All of them have helped a little.

Good luck.

I see nothing helped...LOL.  Thanks everyone.

I had plantar fasciitis pretty bad several years ago. I wouldn't go back to that podiatrist because I didn't like her attitude but she did basically cure me.

I don't know what the method of treatment is these days, but in '92 or so when I was suffering from it, the doc actually tightly bound/wrapped my feet with bandages which prevented the facia tendon from tightening up (shortening) when my feet were relaxed. My feet were wrapped for two weeks (the bandages were changed periodically). Basically, the wrap kept the tendon stretched to a proper length. That's what gets you -- that tendon relaxes and when you stand up, wham! you stretch it back out and it hurts like hell. Haven't had any trouble since -- no inserts or orthotics either.

Have you considered amputation?

I've had this twice, and both times it took 4-6 months to go away, no matter what treatment the podiatrist tried. The worst was getting out of bed in the morning.

What I think helped the most was to find a step (or curb) and stand with your toes and ball of the foot on the curb, and let your heels down lower off the edge (hard for me to describe) so you feel a stretch in your achilles tendon. You can do this as often as you want and it really seemed to help.

Whatever you do, don't let them talk you into cortisone shots in your foot. It MAY give temporary relief, but doesn't really cure it.

Yes I was considering amputation and was wrapping my foot and Im afraid of cortisone shots.  BUT THEN, I happened upon Fleet Feet @ 61st and Yale today at lunch.  OMG!

I walked out without pain and without looking like a cripple. The guy that helped me was very well versed on the problem.  And, when I told him I didn't want to pay ALOT for a pair of new shoes, he found the right price range.

Two sets of their Superfeet insoles and a pair of new shoes that fit correctly (which I did need) and I'm in heaven.

Hope this is the trick.

I have to give a shout out for Fleet Feet.  Their insoles called Superfeet have cleared up my pain.  It was gradual but it's gone.
