LOS ANGELES – The woman who gave birth to octuplets this week conceived all 14 of her children through in vitro fertilization, is not married and has been obsessed with having children since she was a teenager, her mother said.

Angela Suleman told The Associated Press she was not supportive when her daughter, Nadya Suleman, decided to have more embryos implanted last year.

"It can't go on any longer," she said in a phone interview Friday. "She's got six children and no husband. I was brought up the traditional way. I firmly believe in marriage. But she didn't want to get married."

Welfare baby breeder, will cost the state plenty to raise these babies.

Kids most likely to grow up to be gang bangers.

The doctor bares a lot of responsibility for this ruse.

No wonder he has remained unidentified.

Octuplets?

That's not a family...

That's a litter!

Expect some big fallout from this one. She has no job, no home of her own, but is somehow getting $$$$ procedures for free when she can't pay for the first 6 kids.

Come on people, it's a vagina.  Not a clown car.

In general, if a person already has 6 children expensive procedures to artificially induce pregnancy are discouraged.  If a person is single they are more heavily scrutinized.  Like adoption, their financial ability to handle the burden is usually considered.

Medically speaking, the standard for someone under 35 is 1 or 2 embryos for insertion.  35-50 years old 3 to 5.  Why they would ever use 8+ in a woman less than 35 is unconscionable.

FURTHERMORE, the premi care for each of these children is $400,000.  400,000 * 8 = $1,600,000.00.  That's more money than I will spend on my child in his lifetime, and my boy is spoiled.  Clearly not a good decision.

Then the practical matter of any one person having 10 kids in diapers and another 4 in the house.  Simply insane to encourage something like that.  Let alone fund it.

Does any of this encourage a healthy life for the children?  The odds of any of these children being successful in life is very slim.  It simply indulges the mother's desire to sow as many children as humanly possible.

How did she afford the procedure to start with?

This will raise some public health care questions for sure.

The doctor that performed the invitro for the 8 should be publicly identified and have his license to practice medicine permanently revoked.
