Of course, you have to listen to a preacher, but this is Tulsa...

Joyce Meyer to lead three-day conference

Joyce Meyer, one of the United States' best-known preachers, will lead a three-day conference this week at the BOK Center downtown. It will be the first major religious event at the new arena, said Casey Sparks, director of sales and marketing. Houston pastor Joel Osteen was scheduled earlier, but that event was canceled. Meyer will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday, at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Friday, and at 10 a.m. Saturday as part of an 18-city world conference tour that began Jan. 10 in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and is set to end Nov. 22 in Blantyre, Malawi.

The rock band "Delirious?" will lead worship in Tulsa.

Admission to all the meetings is free. Sparks said that for the most part, the entire 18,000-seat arena would be open for seating. Meyer is a charismatic Christian whose television and radio programs air in 25 languages in nearly every country of the world. She has written numerous books, generally on practical Christian living.

I guess this means there will be fuming and fussing again over all the traffic downtown.  About people not being able to get to their usual parking places.  Now is a great time to rethink how one gets to downtown instead of using the usual thoroughfares to save time and aggravation.   Just trying to get the warning out there.   Especially those folks coming up from the south side of the city.

They're all fun to watch if you've got a drinking game going.

The motivational one caught me by surprise.  Ended up being 20 minutes late to work, and made one of the neighbor buisnesses mad by parking in a spot they were trying to save for their employees.

Bike to work day is Friday!  I think I will definitely be riding in on two wheels as I work very close to the Arena.

On Friday I am flying about 1,000 miles, then driving about 300, throwing my crap in a boat and heading about another 50 miles.  So much for biking that day.   :-\

You are, of course, going to buy carbon credit offests for that trip, right?

Yes.  In the form of Cuban cigars.  The tobacco from which absorbs carbon as the plant grows.  Thus I am really saving us all from manbearpig.

I also plan on cutting down trees and chopping them up for firewood.  But since young trees grow faster and remove more carbon than mature trees, I figure I am really helping things out in this manner.

Just from this brief description this sounds like a great trip.  Have a good time.

That's it. I've read enough. I hereby smite you.

I plan to make some calls to Canadian environmental officials. Be afraid. It will look like an accident when you are hurt by a falling tree limb.

When you have them on the phone remind them that it is May and their damn country, while beautiful, should be consistently above freezing this time of the year.  Ice still in some of the coves, open water temp 40F, high temps mostly in the mid 40's with occasional snow showers.

Could I have an annual fishing trip to the Bahamas?  Nooooo...  I go to Canada.   ;D

On the positive side RM, I won't ride in a car for a week.  Will consume no electricity or natural gas.  Will use water straight from the lake (no contamination with Chlorine, Fluoride, etc., no need for pumping).  Will recycle nearly every scrap of waste for something (mostly for heat, but glass and aluminum recycling is subsidized up North so it will be hauled out).  Will eat very little industrially raised meat products.  By co-owning a small piece of the woods I continue to help protect it from logging that is the main industry in the area.

And if things go really wrong I might help contribute to reducing the overpopulation of the Earth.  :-\
