I'm doing both.  Well, neither.  It simply isn't that important to me, it's really for the kids IMHO.

However, the old mascot was SO awful that it was a point of pride to embrace it.  The snow cone, the yellow shower, the bugle, the bee hive.  It consistently made it near the top of the list for worst mascots (the Stanford tree always wins).  This new one isn't good enough to be noteworthy in any way.  So I'd actually prefer fantastically bad.

First two google results for worst college mascots.  Old Captain Cane came in at #2 on both.  Losing to that damn tree.

The comments section under that second link is some hysterical reading.  I even got some education from this, someone claimed a Hokie is a castrated turkey.  W T F?

"I went to the Conference USA basketball tournament tonight and people actually stayed for the Tulsa game just to see the mascot.It was so hideous, it was captivating. You know that it pretty bad when the ugliness of the mascot overshadows the game.I was almost rooting for Tulsa just so I could get to see their mascot for another night. It is truly a spectacle."
