Conservative dog and pony show to resume in new town hall protests

http://www.examiner.com/x-6572-NY-Obama-Administration-Examiner~y2009m11d16-Conservative-dog-and-pony-show-to-resume-in-new-town-hall-protests

"Send in the clowns. Conservatives are set to protest at town hall meetings that are being arranged for the sole purpose of having them come down to put on their show. Sort of like Mickey Rooney saying, "c'mon kids, lets put on our own protests".
Like a tired and shopworn reality show on its last legs, Republicans, who for the most part cant stay out of the gutter of  American politics, are hoping they can fool at least some of the people some of the time by purposely having town hall meetings on healthcare for no other reason than to call out their conservative trained seals to show up with their signs, sit one pedestals  and swallow the fish thrown by their Republican zookeepers, then clap their fins or play "Jingle Bells" on a set of horns and hope the news media is paying attention.

Fox News reported on their web site that the planned town halls are being held because Republican lawmakers are " hoping to re-ignite the town hall fury that inflamed the health care debate and nearly derailed the legislation over the summer."

In other words another dog and pony show for the cameras in the hopes that CNN and others will once again play Gullible's Travels and cover the protests being duped into thinking it's a legitimate news story and a real protest instead of the carefully planned, staged and choreographed piece of amateur street theater that it actually is.

Republicans, who as events since 2001 have shown, have cornered the market on incompetence and political dishonesty will once again hope there are people out in the country dumb enough to believe the nonsense they are putting out. But this time around it may not work.

And even they know it's nonsense. They have made it clear, especially  Republican senator Jim DeMint, that Republican opposition has only one purpose -- to try and deal a political defeat to Obama. It's not about the deficit. It's not about how is it being paid for. It's not about what's best for the country. Its about cheap politics.

They think that by calling health care reform, "The Pelosi health care bill" that people are going to somehow translate healthcare reform into a referendum on Pelosi or her approval numbers.  They seem to have forgotten that when they attacked her for making, in their words, "unfounded" accusations against the CIA, the accusations turned out to be true and Republicans from former Speaker Newt Gingrich to current minority leader Boehner, are still wiping the egg off their faces.

The one question anyone has to ask every time a Republican makes a charge or an accusation is, "when was the last time a Republican or conservative was right about anything"? The answer is no one can remember. And no one is going to remember these staged town hall protests either after health care reform is passed. "

I thought their mission was creeping toward anti-immigration issues, and I think we'd all agree that the biggest problem with the immigrant population comes from those pesky European types.
