Hey all, I'm looking for a firewood supplier in Tulsa that delivers seasoned wood.  The last guy I bought a cord from gave me pine and green oak...that stuff doesn't burn worth a darn.  Can anyone help?

Check Craigslist or the Tulsa World classified services section.  Just make real clear you want seasoned wood.  I've not built an indoor fire in years.  Last house I lived in was too drafty for it, the house I live in now doesn't have a FP.

That would be my late grandfather's brother (he was actually my dad's stepfather, but you get the picture).

Edit (Actually Ted Sr would be my dad's stepfather's brother, but regardless it's still family.  I worked for one of his nephews -- my uncle -- setting up xmas trees when I was in HS at his lot at 73rd and Memorial).

I'm looking for a good source too.  I have had a fire burning most of the time I'm home for the last couple of months.  I let a guy in Broken Arrow rip me off early in the season (100 bucks for a rick of pecan picked up AND I had to load it myself)  I really like the pecan for the mild smell.  I also use it in my smoker - it smokes sort of like hickory but not near as strong.  Just about any well seasoned dense hardwood is gonna burn well, but when burning a fire indoors, the smell is pretty important to me and I'm willing to pay a decent price for an aromatic fire wood.  It seems a fair price for pecan is about 75 bucks - maybe 85-90 delivered and stacked.  I'd love to hear where to find quality seasoned fireplace and smoking woods like pecan, cherry, apple, hickory (not sure if I I want to use that in the FP, but it sure makes nice Q)

There's a good one I forgot, Rauch has been around forever.

Call cannon_fodder's buddy Randall who used to live on the same block.  He's a tree guy.  I use smaller chunks of fruit wood (4" to 6") that I buy in large bags from Perry's.  I have an unlimited supply of pecan from a friend's farm up on Oologah lake.

Going slightly OT- I just got a Cameron's stovetop smoker from Savory Chef (also available at The Stock Pot/Smalley's) last week with some gift certs I needed to use up.  That thing rocks!  I'm amazed at the flavor with not much wood at all, about 1.5 tablespoons of saw dust.  I consider myself a purist when it comes to my smoked meats so I've been a total skeptic about any sort of indoor smoker.  Not anymore.  It won't take the place of the box in my back yard, but sure is great on cold nights to have smoked game birds in 30-45 minutes or a tenderloin in about 30 mins.

Indoor!? 30 minutes!?  Blaspheme!  A real smoking requires a sleepless night and/or countless ours of drinking beer and watching temps.

Convenience sure is tempting, but then my wife might think that my ritual is unnecessary....

Tell her it's like spring or winter training for smoked meat enthusiats.  You can still drink beer whilst smoking indoors.
