WASHINGTON, Dec 16 (Reuters) - An effort by Democrats to stop the repeal of a tax on wealthy estates in the United States has failed in the Senate, as Republicans blocked a renewal of the tax that expires in 15 days.

You are so slow....three weeks ago the Senate, led by Dims, extended the $3.5 lifetime exemption, which would have been zero dollars for 2010, keeping it from reverting back to $1 million in 2011. Hence, the Senate saved several billionaires and multi millionaires from taking their lives next year in the hopes they would die leaving no tax liability. Suicide prevention. The Dims actually raised the lifetime exemption from 1 to 3.5 in 2011 by doing so.
