Remember how Bushitler was mercilessly attacked as a criminal over the Patriot Act. Well, has he been vindicated by the House and Senate passing it with all that evil wiretap stuff and Obama who is expected to sign it?

Wait a minute, I thought Reid a while back said the Senate killed the Patriot Act:

Where are all those amateur Constitutional scholars now?

Yeah, we are screwed.  The Gov. isn't giving up its power.  Lets see what Obama does.

I'm simply curious what people are thinking who thought a vote for President Obama was a vote for closing Gitmo, ending warrantless wiretaps, not sending more troops to Afghanistan, and ending the Patriot Act.

So much for change.

I present to you, President O'Bushma

/edit: "not" sending more troops to Afghanistan

He's two for four (actually 1 and 1/2 for 4) but there you go.  It's unrealistic to think that he would immediately and totally roll back all the Bush security-state apparatus built over the last 8 years.  He's just ending year one of his first term, so I'm willing to hang out.

That said, I do wish he'd done more.   I also admit that the warrantless wiretap thing was a disappointment.

It's almost March...

"The Obama administration still plans to hit its January 2010 deadline to close the terror prison camp at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, the Pentagon's top lawyer said on Tuesday."

More excuse making. At some point you are going to have to realize that Obama's inability to keep his word is pathological. Here is an article citing the freakin ACLU's disdain for Obama's position flip flop on the Patriot Act:

Meh.  Forgive me if I don't find your evidence of pathology compelling.  You're kind of, what's the word . . . biased?

It's reasonable for him to take time to do these things.  IMHO, it's unreasonable to expect everything to change immediately. And that goes for everything that's going on right now.  We're a democracy; the process of decision making is as important to us as the decision.  That's part of the deal.  So while I hate that things have taken so long with healthcare (for instance), I can see some of the reasoning behind it.
