Sorry for the short notice but some friends of mine started something called "Ten for 10: Water for Africa".  If you're interested or know of someone who might be, please let them know about it this event at the Harwelden Mansion this Saturday, October 9th.

Here's some event info and a little information about what the non-profit does.

Ten for 10: Water for Africa, a for-impact nonprofit organization, is bringing our Eat, Drink and Give Water Charity Event to Tulsa on October 9, 2010! This wonderful event, our first outside of Dallas, will be held at the Harwelden Mansion.

It's a night of fantastic food, specially selected wines & beer, and jazz by Cindy Cain. In addition, walk our Audi Red Carpet and get your picture taken in our PhotoBooth!

Proceeds go to a water project in Rulindo, Rwanda giving 2,772 children access to clean water, safe latrines and sanitation education.

Tickets are $60

QuoteWho we are:

Ten for 10: Water for Africa is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) organization whose primary mission is to raise money for water well and rain barrel projects thoroughout rural Africa...and to change lives.

Why we are doing this:

Because every 15 seconds a child dies of a water related illness.

Because over 1 Billion people lack access to clean water.

Because we believe this is preventable.

Our Impact:

Women and children in Africa spend over 40 Billion hours a year on water collection. To date we've given approximately 1,000 people access to clean water, thus decreasing the amount of hours spent on water collection by 273,750 hours EACH YEAR!! (That's the equivalent of 31.25 years of water collection saved annually!*)

This is extremely exciting and impactful to not only this generation, but to future generations. It means more girls are likely to go to school and more women can engage in income generating activities. It means a brighter, more educated future for the women of today and tomorrow. But we can do more.

We aim to raise $25,000 and reach over 3,700 people by the end of 2010! And with your help we can reach this goal.

Thanks so much for any consideration.
