Does anyone know where I can find (quickly, in town or on the way to Dallas Friday):

Vegemite
TimTam
Arnotts Shapes
Nestle Milo
...or other Australian comfort foods?

I wish to surprise an Australian who I will see in Dallas.

Thanks!

Hi shadow6...long time no hear...

I don't think they sell vegemite in the U.S. anymore. It contained folates which the FDA says can only be added to breads and cereals here.

Have you tried Whole Foods? I think that is your only chance for these international foods here in Tulsa. There is also a local chain in OKC (a little longer drive to Dallas) called Pratt Foods that has a good selection.

Good luck. I would probably just take them to an Outback Steakhouse and drink a Foster's Lager.

The Food Pyramid at 101st and Memorial used to have a selection of imported foods from several different countries. They had all kinds of English and Italian stuff. I'm pretty sure I saw vegemite there, but it's been two years since I've been there.

Edited to add: And of course, all of this is available on amazon.com. Much of it's from third party vendors, though, so I don't know how great your chances are of it arriving before you leave. If it was all Amazon stuff, I'd tell you to sign up for a free trial of prime and get cheap overnight shipping.  :P

I have some friends in Australia and New Zealand, so I have them send me stuff directly.  Not often with the cost of shipping, but every now and then.  Some things just seem really hard to get in the states.
