Question: Why the upsurge in activity? Is this a disgruntled Tea party faction?

Sand Springs Neighbors Shocked By KKK Literature In Their Yard

I'm 44 years old and lived in Sand Springs until 5 years ago. There has always been a huge Klan presence in the area North of Sand Springs between the golf course and the Zink Ranch area so this is nothing new.

Back when I was in high school my girlfriend and I were out driving to find a nice place to...ummm....birdwatch and saw a huge rally with the stereotypical burning cross out in the fields. The next weekend some buddies and I went up there and saw the same thing in the same location. We told people at school about it and several made the trip out next weekend. Nobody ever got close enough to see what was going on, but you could see people moving around backlit by the flames.

This is old news. I'm 48, and did my senior research paper in high school on the subject of the KKK in Oklahoma. Some of the things I found out (other than the fact that most of the microfilms of the World and the Trib had sections ripped from what was filmed regarding the race riot) was the fact that my senior english teacher was the grand daughter of a grand imperial wizard of the Klan, and they have been rooted in OK for about the last 100 years. Actually saw an area north of Six Flags on the west side of HWY 360 going north from the old D/FW Turnpike I-30 hwy and before you get to HWY 183, just north of the lake across the highway from the Bell/Textron facility, that was the entrance to a Klan rally in 1982. This is old news in a sense, Tulsa has a long history of KKK, and neo-Nazis. (I hate Illinois Nazis)

Yet another reason I need to get out of Sand Springs.

Grizz, today's Klan looks different than that group. I think today's Klan might be more impotent in their violent ways. And, I do believe they've been infiltrated by the Tea Baggers. They have the same ideals.
