What was the motor on that second one? It was really rocking. I have grown to appreciate diesels much more of late. Especially the quieter ones.

I think it was a 6V71, too.  Old Detroit Diesel two stroke - like model airplane engines - from long, long ago.  Lots of old guys love to hate them.

This thread has certainly morphed.  One thing that came through very clearly is that just because you are poor, beat down, and in dire financial straits does NOT mean you cannot keep going, have some self respect, dignity, and thrive in spite of circumstances.  Those kids will have their "kid" moments - being obnoxious little brats?? - but they have adapted well, I think.  I keep telling my progeny - adapt, innovate, improvise.  If you can't do something one way, back up and come at it again from a different direction.  Eventually, you will find a way or reach the point you recognize it is time to do something entirely different.  Actually, I don't just keep telling them that - I "beat them over the head" with it constantly.

Mantras;
Adapt, innovate, improvise.
Anything worth doing is worth overdoing.
Too much is never enough.

I don't share my thoughts because I think it will change the minds of people who think differently.  I share my thoughts to show the people who already think like me that they are not alone.
