In our company all calls for the owners typically come to me.  Our receptionist is very good at gatekeeping and funneling corporate communications in my direction.  If the call requires owner involvement, I am typically the one to engage that.  Today our receptionist was thrown a curve ball that had us all laughing.

She received a call from an anonymous number and the caller asked to talk to xxx xxxx one of our owners.  After asking the nature of the call, the caller immediately said "I am a narcotics officer and it is imperative that I talk with him."

A little disturbed, he took the call, and the exchange went like this.

"Hello Mr. xxxx, my name is James Roberts and I'm a narcotics officer.  Don't worry, you're not in any trouble, nor is anyone that works for you.  I just felt it was important to contact you directly and notify you about an opportunity for your business to purchase magazine subscriptions . . ."

It's probably been over 20 years since one of these guys has gotten this far.  :D

Anyone know how I can permanently remove one of our numbers from the "Google Directory" that we get calls from on a daily basis?  I've punched the option to have our number removed countless times and threatening the live help with a law suit only results in a "click".  It's annoying as hell.  We get them from a number in Tillamook, Oregon, NYC, South Carolina, and a few other places.  Same damn recording.
