What's up with this Walmart?  This kind of thing isn't unusual at this location:

Naked man rescued from storm sewer

QuoteA naked man was pulled from a storm sewer near a Walmart Supercenter on Tuesday after crawling in several days earlier and getting trapped, firefighters said.

A passer-by heard the 53-year-old man calling for help shortly before 3 p.m. through an opening in a parking lot near the store at 2019 E. 81st Street, Fire Department spokesman Stan May said.

Fire crews had to crawl inside to rescue the man, who had already given up calling for help at that opening and was on his way to another, May said.

The man was pulled out about 3:45 p.m. and was taken to St. Francis Hospital to be treated for weakness and dehydration.

"He was in relatively good health, but he hadn't had a meal in quite a while," May said.

The man had apparently crawled into the sewer from an opening in a large concrete drainage ditch about a quarter-mile west, May said. The ditch drains into the Arkansas River near the River Spirit Casino at 8330 Riverside Parkway.

The man told authorities that he had been in the sewer for several days, but it was unclear why he crawled in, May said.

Authorities did not know whether he was homeless, May said.

"Sometimes people crawl up in there, whether it's kids or whatever, looking for something to do," he said, adding that firefighters rescued another person from a storm sewer in that area earlier in the year.

"We have had to go into those before, but we don't see it very often."

Decomposing debris can release carbon monoxide and other poisonous gasses in storm sewers, so workers and emergency crews must check the air quality before entering them, May said.

The man had no protection from any gasses, May said. He also could have drowned in runoff from showers that began later in the day, he said.

"Those storm drains can fill up rather quickly," he said.

No it's not.  They have had significant problems there.  That was were the woman was caught cooking meth in the dressing room, it's also where several thefts and assaults have taken place in the last couple of years.  There's an island of trees and some benches in the south corner of the parking lot where pan-handlers hang out.  Last week, my 7yo daughter and I were waved down by a young woman with a jacket over her head (on a 100 degree day).  I rolled down my window to see if there was something wrong and she asked me "if I wanted to party."

I like to be strapped when visiting that particular Walmart.

It's beginning to make my closest WM (the one on Admiral and Memorial) seem tame in comparison.  Not that they haven't had their share of issues lately.

And people complain about downtown because of the "scary people" they might see there.  But I know danged well they go to Wal-Marts and have seen what goes into those places lol.  Might be a close call sometimes, but I think the average Wal-Mart wins in the "scary people" department.

I just wanted to inject this here. I watched the Walmart "documentary" today. Something about high cost for low price. I seriously laughed my @ss off at it. Just one sob story after another over freakin retail.
Someone get Hoss a pacifier.

The Wal-Mart at Admiral & Memorial seems much safer than the others, the one on 66th & Memorial had a shooting/killing in their parking lot a few months ago. The one on Lewis & 81st always was a hot bed for trouble.

That's a telling statement.

I live down the street.  I hear the police helicopters on the weekends.  I listen to the police scanners and if 207 S. Memorial Dr. isn't uttered at least once, then I would consider myself like Sauer.

Not a resident.

I'm pretty sure Admiral and Memorial Wal-Mart is where they filmed "Night Of The Living Tweaker"

If they weren't getting huge tax breaks subsidized by their soon-to-be-competition to build new stores (often abandoning old stores in the process) I probably wouldn't think much of the whining either.
