Yes, it is true that the design of Frontier Field as a baseball stadium was slightly modified to accommodate soccer just before it opened back in the late 90's, with "accommodate" being the operative word since a soccer specific stadium down the road (figuratively and later literally) was inevitable.   While the soccer field at Frontier was closer to the majority of fans than what the rendering shows for ONEOK, fans on the right side of Frontier had a distant and indirect view of the action.  For many years the soccer purists in Rochester raised the same objections and complaints heard here about playing in a baseball stadium.  Ironically, later on many would argue that the Rhinos experience was more exciting at Frontier than at their current field, Shalen's Soccer Stadium.

Nonetheless, the future success of soccer in Tulsa must include a soccer stadium as neither of the local b-ball fields are ideal.  I also believe that in order to land MLS in Tulsa as envisioned by many local soccer supporters, it will at least require the COLLECTIVE efforts of the disparate groups coming together with their investors along with strong support from state and local leadership to pull it off.
