First post here, and moving to the Tulsa area shortly.

I've noticed the affordable new homes up in Ashbury Park, built by Home Creations.  Does anyone know someone who has bought in Ashbury Park, or know much about the neighborhood, quality of homes, or the builder?  Random Googling does show some BBB complaints and general buyer complaints, but every company has people that are out to get them, and life isn't perfect - of course there will be problems.  I don't want to completely form my opinion based off of these anonymous reviews I'm reading online - the homes 'look' extremely nice.

Just looking to learn as much as I can about the area so I can narrow down my searches.  Thanks in advance!

Home Creations is a cookie cutter developer, but I believe you already realize that.

Where will you be working?  The commute may make you re-consider where you move to.  Judging by the map, this is right off 169 which is a crappy commute, JMO.  If you will be working in downtown Tulsa, not quite so bad, you'd take 75 in which seems to have far fewer crashes and back-ups at peak hours.

I'll second Conan's remarks.  I live in Owasso right now, East of 169 and have to drive it everyday.  It can be a real pain at peak times, and does have more than it's share of wrecks (although I'm not sure why that is...)  I'll be moving down into Tulsa proper later this year, and the drive is a major factor in the move.

Thanks for the quick replies!

I'll be working downtown.  Looking at Google Maps, 75 does seem like it'd be the best option given what I've heard and read about 169.  Although, I do come from a 25 mile commute that could sometimes take well over an hour so I'm no stranger to traffic.

Home Creations is one of the worst.   Drive by one of their sites where construction is in process.  Starting with the mold infested framing lumber laying around (black streaks is the stachybotrys mold) to the swollen OSB (oriented strand board)....  If you can get there when doing the slab, watch them pour it, then come back the next day and start framing (no cure time).  Lots of details in building that they short circuit or get around that should NOT be gotten around.  They also have/had a division that used to be run by the son of the founder who was a true 'slum lord' in the fullest meaning of the term - if renting upon first arrival, I would avoid them also.

Ideal Homes is kind of an almost exact opposite of that....I haven't priced their homes, but watching their construction doesn't turn my stomach or irritate....they probably cost more.

If you could find a Don Eng home, then you would have something.  Here is an example that says is sold, but representative....

Tulsa area has had some good builders and Eng was one.  Pricey.

And highway 75 is the way to go.

I don't share my thoughts because I think it will change the minds of people who think differently.  I share my thoughts to show the people who already think like me that they are not alone.

Welcome to the Tulsa area, don't be a stranger here!

That sounds like my old commutes when I lived in Houston...no fun for sure.

I love Collinsville. They have a great downtown and a couple of cool festivals each year. I also like that they have their own electric utility. Did you read in the paper that the City is forgoing some utility rate payments to help the school? I think their city manager Pam Polk is one of the best in the region.

I am speaking at the Collinsville Library later this week. I have a recycling business on Broadway just south of the Sonic.  I love that they have a toy store that specializes in Toy Trains. The Silver Dollar Cafe and Saloon has great chicken fried steaks.

I will communicate the necessary warnings to the people up there.
