I could do a lot of cooking in that!! 

I especially like the "Hansel & Gretel" style - perhaps they left the oven out for a reason...to keep mean little kids from cooking them...!!??   They did kinda go 'modern' on the inside after a really great outside start.  But no matter what, stainless appliances are probably never gonna give that feel that I want and you expressed - old world lumberjack.

Am planning to make a little 'guest house' along those lines - hand split oak shingles, etc.  But no second story!  There is also one of those old fairy tales about "There was a crooked man and he went a crooked mile...".     Like this...only no pastels!

Unfortunately those ovens are so pricey, you don't even want to see the price! (Ok, $7500 for a Rayburn Oven!)

Or finding a neat looking old 1940s/1950s oven on Craigslist and just biting the bullet and fixing it up (which can be done for less than $500 including repairs usually).

That is exactly the styling I am looking for.  I have an old 1950's Royal Rose, 20" range for a special project I am working on (school bus RV conversion) that is very similar to the 2nd one.

I don't mind buying new, but would much rather buy an old one that has been re-worked.  Or I can rework.   I go to Tulsa Stove Hospital once in a while just to kinda look around.  Haven't found exactly what I want, but close!  They did have an old Ruud 'on demand' water heater - from about 1910 !   Cost more than I could work with.  Looks like an old pot bellied wood stove... dual fuel - one of our "modern" buzz words - burned wood or coal !!

Finally it looks like all the listed Urban 8 units have sold. There's still 3 owned by Yvonne and her business and 1 owned by Urban Development Authority, but none listed on MLS right now. And 4 sold to real people. The prices ranged from $600k for a couple units and $800k for the other 2.

Kids, don't let your dreams be dreams! Get out there and build them! Seriously though I think those people got some excellent value in terms of prime location and well designed places. Especially for the $600k price tags. It just took half a decade for the market to sort of catch up and the area to really thrive by there.
