WASHINGTON -- Rep. Ernest Istook's congressional campaign hosted fund-raising events in 2003 in sports stadium skyboxes controlled by disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff, but failed to pay for them until recently, The Oklahoman has learned.
Istook's federal campaign on Dec. 28 made two payments, totaling $5,126, to Sports Suites LLC, a company created by Abramoff, according to a report filed Tuesday with the Federal Election Commission.

A spokesman for Istook said the campaign had just recently discovered the company had not been reimbursed for the cost of the suites, one for an "American Idol" concert and another for a Washington Redskins football game.
